You have some interesting ideas, keep them coming.
I can see one clear weakness though. You use more lines than you need. Only put down lines that has to be there. All lines should serve a purpose to the image. You shouldn't add random lines here and there, they will weaken the piece. Think ahead in steps as you draw, it will help a lot I think!

So I've been doing some acrylic stuff lately. They are both rather small.

Thanx for stopping by at my sb. I see that the last two pieces are much more solid due to the better use of brush strokes. Also, the luck of outlines gives them a more 3d aspect. The hard outlines on the 5# post for example, tend to flatten your image. I can understand what you are trying to do (i think) using that kind of linework but as loathsome wrote, u have to be more specific about what you are trying to achieve. Also, a few anatomy studies are necessary. You can see that on the last post at his left hand and head. Once again, there is deffinetely a unique style, not only from a drawing's view but also from a concept point. Do you like history?

Great work overall.I am impressed by your passion to create complicated scenes, like these historical style paintings.
I think you have a great start here and u are on a great track with your skills.I think if u keep up improving the fundamentals u can create even greater pieces and u will be able to make a better depiction of what u have in your mind(and why not landing more jobs or somethign)
Studying anatomy is a basic training that will not only help u in creating bodies.

I like the energy! Keep painting this actively.
But you need to do more studies because there's a bunch of structure problems. Whenever you start guessing how things look, then it's time to do studies of it.

Do studies from anatomy books such as Andrew Loomis and Brigdman. You can find PDFs of those on the internet. I think you should do some still life painting and copy photos for color studies.

Be as active with the studies as with the imagination painting. You need a good balance, it's important!

If you do studies but you don't post them, then that's cool. But if that's the case. I'd love to see those too!

Been a long time since I posted here, but I've been busy with both art and non-art stuff.

knut-: Thanks for the crit! Yeah, I know my anatomy isn't very strong. It's something I'll have to work on. At the moment, I like painting culturally diverse people with strange costumes, so that's why I tend to paint subjects of this kind. Eυχαριστώ πολύ που έγραψες!

kingkostas: Ευχαριστώ πολύ! Yeah I know my anatomy needs work. It's just that I tend to focus more on composition and color, and as a result anatomy has taken a back seat. I'll try to put more effort in my anatomy from now on.

Loathsome: Thank you! You are right about the guessing part. I'll try. A few years ago, all I did was studies and drawing from reference. I ended up not being able to draw from my imagination, so I don't do too many studies these days, and try to just have fun! Seriously though, I'll try to incorporate it into my drawing habits. Yes, I do some stuff from photos or master copies but I don't post them because they'll make my imagination stuff look bad , and it's a way to motivate me to make my own paintings.

I really admire the way you manage lighting and colors man! I think the sky is great, and the synthesis is nice, but you didn;t let some room. I mean maybe those figures are a bit too much for the specific frame. Leave more room maybe for the surroundings. Other than that, anatomy is the thing! I can sense improvement in the female drawing.
But you really should put sometime into studying and not only do stuff from imagination because else you'll get stuck one day and that'd suck. You don't have to do an insane amount, but it's healthy for your art to work out those muscles in your brain.

Doing studies and then doing imaginative work is great. But if you do studies and then stop doing them for a really long while, it can get damaging. I've heard a bunch of professionals mentioning that they felt like they did slip a bit with their art when they didn't do any studies at all.

I don't mean to pester you with this, I just wanted to highlight the importance I see in studying.

Loathsome: Thank you for your honesty and critique. I really appreciate it. I've been doing studies the last couple days but I don't consider them very interesting to look at, so I kept them private. But since I see an interest in seeing them, I will share them gladly. I suppose I should be more transparent about my process. So let's go!

Been studying Hogarth mainly, since it provides a nice introduction to mass, construction and the most prominent muscles, but I did squeeze in some studies from Bridgman and Loomis in there.

Hey Awesome work you have here. I really admire how you're always going for full illustrations. But as Loathsome pointed out. You'll greatly benefit from doing studies Which you seem to be doing, but they aren't showing up here. I only see the drawing of the dwarves. And it's good However, the left dwarf's arm seems to be too long. If you continue it off the page you'll see what I mean.
Also, I think it'll help you improve faster if stop rendering things out and concentrate on linework for some time. This way you'll be able to make more drawings in less time. And the more drawings you make, the better you get!

It's great that you train with such compositions, which in my oppinion are freaking hard to do, especially with acrylics.In my oppinion you should concentrate more on the overall image of the painting than the details, build up some solid lightning, main character which would get the most attention or maybe thing of something your own, because when you paint everything in the same way with loads of details and without the illusion of depth painting misses a lot with this Studies from nature, landscapes and stuff like that help to develop these skills a lot, and ofc observing the works of pro's

Hey there I'll divide things to many posts because the page is getting slow from all the images.

Windmaker Thank you! Sorry about the missing pictures. I immediately fixed it once I read your post. About the rendering, I try to render things, so I can better visualize how they will look like in 3d space. It's all about making decisions. I don't want to hide behind a "it's just a quick sketch" thinking, if you know what I mean. Although there's definitely value in quick sketches, to train your creativity/designs , think about posture etc.

Justas Thank you! In the end I guess it's all about enjoying the process, not just the results and I definitely enjoy working with acrylics. Besides, the principles are the same, whether you work analog or digital. I don't sweat over details, but I do try to improve the way I handle the brush and figure out the "behavior" of the paint. I definitely agree about your comments on color and composition, and am very much aware of the problems. I think this one has a lot more to benefit from a better composition and especially better colors ( I drifted away there in my pursuit of a vibrant color palette), than it does from better anatomy. Its kind of intimidating how much there is to learn, but the fun keeps us going I guess...

Που σαι ρε παίχτη! Χαίρομαι που βλέπω σπουδές ανατομίας!
Ακόμη περισσότερο που κάθεσαι και ρίχνεις τόση δουλειά, αλλά μη σταματήσεις τις σπουδές!
It seems that you need some more studies on figures and material! On the last one for example, i think that, except the great feel of strokes (there's something, really), the rocks don;t seem to be a different material from the clothes. Also, there is a perspective issue: The Front and second figures are bigger than the last one in a way that don't seem to be normal. try to have more dynamic levels of perspective things going on!

knut- Σε ευχαριστώ φίλε μου. Yeah, I agree with your observations. A lot of these things come from doing a lot of work. I'm still a beginner with oils, so you may see a lot of weird stuff going on.
