Hey, thanks for the advice on James Gurney. I also saw your blog... WOW! Your study on light and realism is incredible.
I'd like to ask you another advice. Like I said I want to become an Environment and Level designer, and I know that the basic study of perspective, anatomy and lights is all I have to know. I'd like to know your experience. I mean, I know copy from real is always good, study from the books, copy the drawings on it. Any other suggestion to improve?
Thanks.

hey keep it up ur getting there, thumbnail sketches are great helps with overall composition and colour, if it looks good that small it will look good bigger too. keep it up
Lucarky - I would say perspective, light and anatomy is a good place to start, but try studying everything once because you never know what you'll learn. Take your time though and try not to always do everything at the same time, it might be overwhelming. I think I could have improved faster in the past if I asked myself more questions during the study, like: what color/temperature is the light source? Where is the light coming from? What am I learning about the texture of the materials? How do the materials react with the light? Stuff like that. I'm not a working professional so take my advice with a grain of salt! Hope this helps
Mussy - Thanks mannn

Lovin all your work, especially your grasp of tonal composition and rendering skills. Your wide variety of experimentation is so exciting to see! Check out Vilippu, Michael Hampton and Mike Matessi if you haven't already; I think you would have fun with their various points of view on drawing from imagination. Congrats on the killer sketchbook.

Really great stuff. I love your colours, your brushwork, your comps, it's all super inspiring. The only crit I've got is that a lot of your poses are kind of stiff - maybe try more gestures to loosen up?
Thanks for stopping by at my sketchbook. I will reply to your stuff once I upload some more art.
This last piece is awesome. I really love the subject and the clouds/sky are really superb. The only thing is that the foreground looks a bit neglected compared to the sky - it's almost as if two different people painted this piece because the ground is very stylized and simple while the sky is filled with gradients of colour and movement. Maybe this is what you were going for? Looks great nonetheless.

Hey Pnate,
you have some really cool studies in there... love them... keep them coming![]()
I really like your studies. To piggyback off what Revidescent said, I also think that some of your character poses seem stiff. Gestures could help to loosen up those lines, maybe? But, keep posting!![]()
