Red face Self-portrait with some WOW in it =P

Hey guys I just joined this website a couple of days ago, and this is my first post. It's suppose to be a Self-Portrait with a World of Warcraft inspired theme (I'm suppose to be a Death knight ) so anyway please critique and hopefully ill pick it from there. I have more work coming up later on.

Your painting is feeling really flat. You've got light, shadow, and reflected light on your character, but non of the values seem to be too far apart from one another.

Try to get a wider range of values in your image.

Try to separate values between foreground and background. It creates the illusion of depth and allows your images' different planes to read.

Try out a different color in the background. The Skulldron (Skull+Pauldron=Skulldron) glows the same color as your eyes. This is okay. But then the same color shows up in the background and then reflected light. It really flattens out the image by pulling the glow in the background to the front. And then you have no background because it all looks like it's up front.
