    Nice figure drawings.

It's the slight difference in the size and placement of the irises that I think Lightship means. It's also in the green eyed girl above.

Hm. Yeah. I think I see what you mean. I should've spent more time working on her eyes.

I've been pretty bad at updating this thing... But here's a batch of stuff.

Worked some more on the girl portrait. It's still not perfect, but I don't know if I have the skills to take it much further. Perhaps besides making her nose a bit smaller and making the hair look better.

A sketch and WIP for CHoW. Some life studies and an SP. Can't ever seem to get the likeness right on those... Head anatomy studies, some stuff from photos and lastly a horse portrait comission.

Gah. I've spent the last two weeks+ sitting at home, mostly doing art. I probably need to get out more...

You're not to escape. I'm getting a ball and chain for you to keep you hard at it.

Girl looks much better, but take a line from the inside corner of the eyes and draw it down vertically to the nose. It usually should be in line with the outside edge of the nose or at least the same distance from the edge.

    My favourite is the horse.

    Hi matey

I like that last batch of stuff a helluva lot, specifically the horse and oddly enough the skulls, quite an eclectic combination of likes but there you go I must be in an odd mood again.

keep it coming mate, all the best

hey tobbA! good work here lately man; I really like that still live with the rock and potatoes. the horses and the burd catching a work look really sweet too.
anathomy studies are definitely doing there thing. I think you could use some more gestures from live to get those movements down. but ofc I'd say that; it's all I ever do. haha!

Soo... I'm finally deciding to upload some stuff.

Black Spot: Nah. I'm not running away. Thanks.

    Lightship99: Thanks for stopping by

Ashess: Thanks. It's not like I don't do gesture drawings. And I go to life drawing at least once a week. Though I don't get out of the house a lot these days so I don't have a lot of opportunities to sketch random people. Might make a point of doing it someday though. But I usually don't upload these things because I'm not very often that happy with how they turn out or I just don't see the point since they're usually just quick scribbles anyway...

Not a lot of studies this time around. Not sure how that happened.

Tried to fix the nose on this one. Hopefully it's a bit better. Not so sure about the hair, still...

Another horse portrait. The photo I had to work from was pretty blurry so I couldn't get into a lot of detail on it.

And finally I'm taking the "Advanced Lighting" course on schoolism.com. So this is the first assignment from there.

Working from a blurred picture id sometimes a lot easier as you don't get bogged down in the detail, but the back legs look like he's desperate for the loo.

The guy with the beard looks like he forgot to take the coat hanger out before putting the coat on.

Your SP - damn, I'm miles too old.

Awesome updates dude. The towel study's great, love the texture, and the self-portraits are totally rad. (Awesome beard btw!) You're probably going to hate me for saying this, but I actually prefer the freckled girl's hair way back in post #178. Back then, her hair was a soft, fluffy mass, which is pretty similar to the weight and texture of curly hair. In the more recent versions, her hair looks more like a clay model of hair - it's dense and heavy and is clumping a little awkwardly. These are small but you could maybe try to go for something more like this: example1 example2 example3. Of course if all else fails, you can buy a wig and a fan and take some refs yourself to work from.

Lightship: Merry Christmas to you too... or something

Black Spot: Thanks, yeah. I'm aware of the coat hanger neck. It was sort of intentional.. but maybe it looks a bit wierd.

And you'll never be as young as you are right now.

Dierat: Thanks I'd probably look pretty weird in a curly red wig... But I agree with you. I'm not sure if I'll go back to fix it though. The piece feels like it's gotten close to its "best before" date.

Figured I'd try and kick this thing back into shape again...

I'm not entirely sure if I'll post all the course assignments I've done. Mostly because they aren't necessarily that interesting to look at anyway, but maybe later.

    Some other stuff though:

Anyway. Here are some drawings from my sketchbook... Finished version of Melisandre. And a WIP of Samus Aran.

Here's some more stuff done on Samus (I should probably try to make her expression look a bit more badass...)

I also wonder about her arm with the gun. it would end somewherein at the end of the barrel now. you couldnt fire it with her hand in there. or is it 1 with a handle. I dont see that yet.

glad youre back and posting again (thanks for the SB visit by the way) What have you been up to whilst you have been off ignoring us lesser mortals (lol) ? I hope it was something that paid vast amounts of cash and brought you fame and glory. If not then what was the point ??

Ashess: Actually, I was aiming more for "empty stare", but that got difficult so I ended up with this instead. Not sure what I'll do with it now...

And yeah. I see your point about the gun. Even though I think her hand would be just short of reaching the barrel (wherever that is, hard to tell... Maybe her entire arm is transformed into a gun?) but I see in some artwork of her that the cannon should be longer...

Lightship: Well, I thought I'd take a bit of a break from this place while I was taking the lighting course on schoolism.com that I mentioned earlier. At least it taught me lots of useful stuff about lighting, so time well spent, I'd say

Here are some sketchbook doodads... At least I have time to draw some during lunch break at the unemployed youth thingamajig I'm going to at the moment... Tomorrow I have an interview for a telemarketing job though so maybe that'll change. (I kinda hope not...)

I also ended up signing up for a fantasy and sci fi writing course, which means even less time to draw. D:

Aaanyway... next is a quick painting for DSG and last is a portrait of Keiko Terada, singer of japanese hard rock band Show Ya

Thanks. Yeah... Guess I just gotta keep working on that portfolio. Need to get to a point where I can say that I at least feel fairly confident about all the pieces in it.

Some sketch ideas for COW Legend of Zelda monster redesign, and the final (maybe) version
