Problem with default brushes - PS CS4

    Hi all,

Just a quick question and hoping it hasn't already been asked by someone else. Checked some other posts and couldn't find one right off. Anyway, I noticed the default brushes are a bit different than the ones in previous versions of Photoshop. particularly the hard round brush series. In CS4 they are completely hard with no fall off or pen pressure effect with a Wacom tablet ( I have the Intuous 3 version). I tried adjusting the settings such as shape dynamics, other dynamics etc. but with no luck.

In CS2 the same brush (hard round brush) has a fall off with airbrush effect and it responds to the pressure of the stylus on the tablet. Does anyone know how to adjust or fix the problem if it is actually a problem? Perhaps someone else has dealt with the same issue.

Any help or tips would be very welcome. Thanks in advance.

    Hey toyo1

    • Try installing the latest wacom driver.
    • Check Image / Mode isn't set to Bitmap (This will not allow you to have any pressure sensitivity in brushes)
    • If you have any other painting software (Painter, Artrage etc.) you could test - your wacoms pressure sensitivity in them.
    • If it is just Photoshop having problems, try reinstalling it.

    Good luck

    Gep,

Thanks for the reply. I didn't see your response at first since I hadn't seen any replies in quite some time. Pretty certain that images weren't set to bitmap, but I will check to see if the same problem occurs in Painter as I do have that as well. Hopefully it is just an issue with re-installing PS. At work the same version works just fine with my Wacom. Also, I had installed the latest driver for my tablet. Thanks again for the help.
