I've been taking my times with painting lately, I work on a painting most of the day instead of the quickies. I think they're turning out a lot better than before. Hopefully I improve a lot faster this way. Also, for the values I usually leave the color in the photo instead of changing it to black and white and change it back after to see what I got right or wrong. I don't know if this is how I should do it or not.
This one still has a long way to go.

An unfinished pandorum movie still. Having a hard time with the likeness on this one.. I didn't spend much time on it though.
Also, more on that handsome African American gentleman.![]()
More work on my Pandorum still.
Also a biohazard tattoo I did today.

Your values and fine detail in just your greys are freaking awesome. The only thing I could say is that the level of attention you give your faces versus the rest of the character in... detail? value? I'm not sure - it tends to give them a somewhat floating sense to them, like they're slightly disconnected from the body, or like they're in much higher focus than the rest of the piece.
If that's what you're going for, then it's working - it does intensify the faces a great deal. If it's not then... well, food for thought![]()
MY SKETCHBOOK IS AWESOME

Raminafshari Hey man, thanks for taking the time to look through my sketchbook and leave some feedback, I really appreciate it.
Karmiclychee Thanks for the comment and critique, I never noticed the floating heads before but I'm totally seeing it now, it's probably because I spend so much time on the portrait and I'm treating the body as an after thought. I'll try to work harder on the whole picture from now on.
So I've realized that a lot of people here like to do still lifes. I suck at still lifes, so instead focusing on portraits I'm going to do a long still life everyday, hopefully I see some improvement.
Here are my first few efforts... The first one is still in the blocking in stage...
wow dude, you are waaaay ahead of me with this wacom business, impressive!

Thanks a lot for the comment Bishop! Your painting style is amazing, and you've been growing a ton every page.
I painted still lifes a long time ago, and I felt like one of the most interesting parts was finding subject to paint. I think one time I did a mixing bowl and toilet paper covered up with a cloth. That was fun. Don't limit yourself to bottles and fruit (despite the amazing ones you did already), I'm sure you can find some much more funner stuff.
look so good , i enjoy watching your sb .

I like the softness of your expression, but do try to add some hard edges, and different textures to your work, you can only benefit from variety.

Velocity Kendall Hey man, thanks. Pet? My puppy drawings? Haha thanks.
Vertical Hey thanks for dropping buy, I tried to incorporate what you said in these next few still lifes. It's fruit but I added a blanket and back drop, well in the second one anyways.
Catish Thanks alot for the tips. I know what you mean, I did some portraits based solely on structure today but I don't like scanning in things, takes to long. :/ I'll try to get some of them up soon.
Raminafshari Thanks so much for taking the time to look through here, most of it is pretty awful but I appreciate you combing through that. :]
Moonrage Hey thanks for the critique, I'll try to tone down the softness and look up how to use textures properly. I'm still not sure how to paint like that yet.
Here's some bananas. I realized I went to detail to quickly on the first one, that and I was attached to the yellow. I abandoned it. The second one is still in progress.

An onion I kind of got bored with, I need to get more discipline... also some portraits mixed in with a ranger type sketch I did when I got bored with the self portraits at work.
Another onion for today, and a quick study from characterdesigns.com

Something I originally did for /ic/ but never got around to posting it on there... I think the still lifes are helping with my sense of color, still struggling with it but I think they show improvement in this one.
A study of a cool guy in a cool jacket. I tried to work more on the clothes and ended up leaving the face disproportionate. I don't know, it's just one of those days.

Bishop you have some great looking work in here. Your putting in the time and its showing! Great job.
love the lighting on the spoon and prescription bottle. you have an eye for that thing I can tell. great work!
Tried out a few different things, I should probably make a habit of doing these sketches more often.
Another two pages of studies; obviously adjusted in photoshop. My scanner is terrible.

Inspired by browsing the many great artists on this website. I don't have much time to draw with school and work but I still get in a couple hours a day.
