My friends call me Mace....I am an ex ghetto/hood tattoo artist, My ink work can be seen on some of the most gnarly drug dealers and gangsters that walk the earth. There are things I have seen and done that I can never take back and i can never forget. Sometimes these things manifest themselves in my art.
Please follow my journey to becoming a better artist.....There are so many badass artists on this site, and I respect you all, bear with me as I follow my path to releasing all those things inside that should never be seen.

Hey there, if you are using photoshop, set your scanned image to "multiply" mode and you can colour underneath the line work, good to see anatomy studies, good start, keep it up

I like where you're going with these studies.

A few years back I only used traditional medium, drawing on the computer seemed like a pain in the ass, now most of my drawing is done start to finish on the computer. Although I am going back to pencil and paper every now and then for some variety.

haha. i was getting most of my needed images from google and tweaking them to suit clients. (lazy) ....then i just started studies again....here are a few sketches before I decided to go back to studies. And I have a tablet, and Im sure Ill whip it out again soon, must improve and study with pencil first....thanks, some stuff from this month and some more new studies.

heres my next attempt after watching some tutorials...very slowly i amlearning about values and lighting and stuff i should have learned already ...it stinks, but i must post it so i can see myself get better...any tips will be much appreciated.

trying to get some practice with values/blending and learning how to use layers and brushes. Shheeez...thats alotof stuff to learn. at least my ideas can finally comethrough my head onto tablet. Next I try to render something worth a fuck...bare with me as I learn...Post pardom depression

Thanks. (too me they suck,but Im improving slowly bro)I have a lot of wild ideas in my head, until now,its been hard to get it from my mind to the tablet. Most of the stuff is twisted and gritty. I guess thats my style. I would love to get my art/ideas out there and do any type of freelance work at all. lol. I plan to enter some design/logo contests as soon as I figure out how to work better on my tablet and after some serious studies.
I hope by page 10 to have something worth lookin at!!

Moving on to animal anatomy. Finally learning some control with the pad. All of my work will be in digi from now on, as I get used to only drawing in digi. something clicks in your fingers and you finally "see" better and can control the movement on screen better....found a new HP computer in the trash yesterday...using it now.

finished my first cartoon....learning eviros.
still only have painter 4 (no custom brushes can be downloaded and a bamboo tablet. Santa bring me a Intuos 4 and photoshop 10

I need to study....so female/ beast anatomy for a while until i get it.
crappy dragon./ my first ..when i went back to drawing on paper, i could draw better, from different angles, men, women, beasts.

first of a million dragon type creatures in my mind...I will draw 1000 dragons until i draw one worth a damn.
My goal is to get 1 comission. Any comission besides tattoo design, which I am weary of.

These last post with a red haired girl looks like a good modern painting. Maybe you should try some traditional paintings? Oils, or acryl on canvas?

Your drawing style remind me hes works.

Don't worry to much about digital stuff, you may simply draw what you like on paper, and add some additional colors by overlay (new layer\layer style=overlay). Sadly still even best tablet can't beat pencil pressure sensitivity.

Thank man! I am an admirer of your skills so that means alot bro. I probably wont do and traditional mediums as I dont have that opportunity, but I practice at night in my paper sketchbook, hopefully i will acqire some skills soon.

Watch the way you overlay those textures...it can look cool and stuff, but don't let it become a crutch. You're stuff is coming along I see you becoming more comfortable with the tablet...just keep going man and make sure you keep up the studies.

I can see where it could become a crutch, I am just experimenting with different effects, as I am a noob when it comes to photohop/not for long.
hey thanks for the help on the custom brushes, tho i never got the ones I wanted, it was in rar file form and it needs to be in abr form...oh well I guess Ill wait for a while Thanks for your help. I dig your sketchbook

Thanks cuz. I do some studies at night on paper but I need to do many more..the dragons are helping me identify beast anatomy and i plan to draw 1000 dragons this being my 6th.
money dragon..still workin on it/hands are weak and need to be finished/odd..some of the texture lines were visible after saving..anywayz...
