JellevdVegt, I've been lurking around these forums for a good while now, and I want you to know that I really find your work to be inspiring. I've spent a good chunk of last night and today going through your sketchbooks, new and old, and I am so impressed.

Your handling of perspective, especially, is really wonderful. It looks so natural and like you just know exactly where to place every line. You make it look effortless, even though from all that I've seen you have put SO much effort into your work. I guess that's the pay-off.

Anyway, thought I'd let you know.

Ik zou het super boeind vinden als je een tekening zou maken van spieren van bijvoorbeeeld je nek of je been of van een hond of iets in die richting.. meer organisch dan geometrisch.

Hoi Jelle!

First thing; your designs are cool and your sketchbook contains some fine work. But what I don't get. Your first sketchbook was randomly filled, you hated on concept art and started a new sketchbook to become a better 'designer' and not an illustrator. Then I'm going to your second sb and your first posts are illustrations. Again you start hating the shallow concept art but a few posts after it you start doing concept art for yourself (post #35).

I have to agree with a certain shallowness in some conceptart work but I think by saying all concept art 'these days' is to much. Some of my own concept art is shallow but they were more techninque studies then design studies. I think if your more into design you should just filter some artists instead of yelling conceptart is shallow (in its design). And note that some conceptart is just made to set a mood and not going into any design.

So enough statements, keep it up with your work! It's fun to see.

beany911 the skull was just an excersise so i dont know if i will paint that anytime soon i think i will practice some cars soon

here some abstract shit, again trying to focus on edges. Somehow loosing the feel of depth because i dont manage my edge contrasts well enough. also, i didnt build up my value consistently enough. And maybe i should have used more reference too ooh well

Anyways about the last piece nice color use. Try some bounced light effect to add more definition to the edges. Just a thought.

Here is a triple A0 poster i made for the final presentation of a school project called 'house of the future'. The concept is a reaction of the individualistic society we are becoming, and the lack of real fysical interaction with people (social networks / chat programs). The design is an appartment building where every appartment can open itself up to a central area and so stimulate fysical interaction with your neighbours.
