    Jason departs Massive Black !!!

    http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/2..._CoFounder.php

Jason Manley is leaving the posts of president and CEO at Massive Black, the game art outsourcing company he founded and led for six years, as co-founder Chris Hatala takes up the reins.

According to a statement made by the San Francisco-based studio today, Manley will remain on the company's board of directors, but plans to spend more of his time tending to his websites ConceptArt.org and The Art Department. Both sites have been long-time affiliates of Massive Black, with many of the firm's key employees sourced from the former site's community.

Whoah, that sounds like it was a tough choice to make. All the best Jason, you created something awesome! And if it means he's gonna spend even more time on TAD and CA, all the better!

    Jason departs Massive Black !!!
I wouldn't say he 'departed' Massive Black. Sounds like he is just handing over the reigns.

Seems like good news to me. I'd love to see him focus his energy into these online courses. There is still a strong stigma out there around the validity of online education (partly because of shoddy operators, and partly because of the inherent lack of 'exclusivity'). But i think this community, combined with TAD, could really help highlight the various advantages of this approach to education.

Well, I guess it means more Jason Manley for us here on CA and the people at TAD.
I'm sure he left MassiveBlack in good hands..you cannot run a business succesfully for so long without having the gift for organization..and its clear Mr. Manley has a gift for that.

Yeah, I saw that too...a little sad but at least MB is in good hands and Jason will now have more time for his art as well as CA and TAD.

It's always been apparent that Jason's passion lies in education, and I'm happy to see he's putting more emphasis on that aspect

I guess running a business and art are both full time jobs. Jason made the wise decision. If I were in his position I probably would have done the same thing years ago. He was patient enough to establish TAD first.

Hopefully things go smoothly over at MB now that Hatala is heading it. I'm sure things will be fine.

I hope the best of luck to both of you.

This is actually a good thing. I mean come on... Jason founded Massive Black, he founded Conceptart.org and he founded an online school for artists worldwide to learn while paying a lot less then a lot of art schools. I wanna bet he's gonna do some even greater stuff in the future. Prepare yourself, my dear fellow artists, Jason will do some great stuff for the benefit of art education and art itself once again.

Jason, you have my blessing. God's speed!

Best of luck to both Chris and Jason. Now hopefully Jason will have more time devoted to teaching art and finally getting some time sleep.

Anyone find it weird that we're all hearing the news from some random gaming site, rather than from the man himself? He's updated here with less earth-shattering news.
