    HI matey

I loved the gestures in those last sets of images you really nailed them, Its one of the things that I am really concentrating on at the moment and sometimes I get it way wrong which makes me laugh out loud. You don't seem to be having any troubles at the moment so I will just say well done and keep posting.

All the best to you matey and thanks again for taking the time to post all this stuff it really helps the numpties of the world like me to see it done right! lol

Falllllin' behind with my updates again.
I'm still drawing more than twice a day, the problem is I've been baddly, baddly struggling against the urge to rush. I think I'm starting to get over it again, thankfully. But I'm not being funny with you the stuff I was churning out had such a dramatic decline in quality I knew it wasn't worth posting till I focused on fixing my problem.

    Replies:
    Mane: Ah, thank you!
Josh: Haha, always does me good hearing people think I'm progressing. Hopefully I can keep up the pace!
Lightship: I had problems with gestures for the longest time too! I'm still not sure I've got the hang of the quicker ones, so many I look at when I'm done and just think "what the fuck is that?" but atleast I still find it a good warm up. Also, cheers for the kind words! It never occurs to me that people find any use from these sketches I dump here, I just figure its easier for me to see my general progress when its all together. So that's really just a bonus! Good luck with your gestures, I'm sure you'll get the hang of them.

I had more, I just can't remember what's on tumblr and whats already here anymore.

Lovely style, really cute characters. Well suited to comic books.

odd, I swear I posted a reply here not long ago but apperantly it's gone :s
Anyway, I just wanted to say that you're really growing a lot and becoming really great, the only thing I can say is to keep doing what you're doing because clearly it's working really good for you

Kambei: Ah, thank you! Ahaha, I must admit, loads of what I draw lately's fanart. If you see horned kids and teens with glasses, definitely not my characters. But thank you! Cheers for the kind words
Lav: Aw shucks, I don't even know what to say! Ahah, other than thank you of course! I still feel I could be pushing myself more. I'll probably set up a list of goals sometime today and superglue it to my forehead.

99% of this update is yet again homestuck fanart, and you know what? I'm not even sorry.
Its so much less stressful just drawing other characters for a bit and not worrying about consistency, I'm considering this fanart splurge like a massive break to me.

Samuri: Everyone keeps saying I'm progressing! ahaha, I might have to look back over pages to verify that for myself, I feel like I'm always stood in the same place ahaha.
Nodeerskulls: Bah, you're so kind! I've actually been practicing my lines in digital lately, I'm hoping I can learn to handle that medium better. Cheers!

Cheers, Nim! I'm having plenty of fun messing around, especially on fanart. I'm going to take that same carefree approach I start them with to my own projects, I'm hoping.
And that's allright! It's still a useful thing to have anyways, I can still get the gist of it at that size ahaha.

Ah, still having a lot of fun scribbling homestuck fanart at 2am. I swear I'm going to do more studies along side them.

    If I could just
    be arsed
    to use my scanner.
My posts lately wouldn't look so gratuitous.

Edit: AHha oh god. I've gotten into the habit of just scrunching up studies when they're done and using them to plug up holes in my room. Now I've got barely any around to scan.
    GOOD JOB, SINEAD.

I just realised you can animate on photoshop.
Nothing big I've done, mind you. I'm starting to realise when one thing moves, everything else sort of moves with it, and really subtly. Not going to beable to mimic fluid movement anytime soon.
    Fun though.

Not actually sure those things uploaded right. We'll have to see.

Great Sb, Your traditional stuff is Epic! Your hard work is paying off cause you digital works are comin along nicely. Not sure what to crit cause you got your own style for figures and its workin. I guess would be to focus on hands, you have a good understanding of them as of now but, you got talent and i think you could push your hands further!
Also those animations are Awesome! I also use photoshop for animatin too, its alot of fun.

Keep up all the hard work!

ahhh i'm so glad i found this sketchbook! your art is delightful. (i love your troll designs oh my goodness...)

i'm not knowledgeable enough yet to contribute much of value, and i hope i'm not repeating anybody else, but! the hairy character with the orange colour scheme, in the first picture of your last post. i'm not sure what your intention for their gender is and i'm not one to push norms regarding that, but - you may want to consider moving their breasts down just a bit for a more biologically female look. where they are right now makes them look like moobs - which is awesome if that's what you're going for! but if it's not, i'd suggest making them look a little heavier/rounder (not necessarily bigger!) and letting them droop just a bit.

...it's kind of predictable of me to appear just to comment on some tits, i guess.

QPK: Ahhh yes! I've been meaning to get back into hand practice. My unreffed hands look like messy blobs of late.
That animation stuff really is something, mind you Wow. What the fuck goes on with layers when you animate. That was the only thing that slowed me down.

    Scari:
Hey hey! You a homestucker too? Ahaha, I see a lot of the fans don't really like how I draw them. Not kawaii enough, I gather.
So it's a pleasant surprise to hear something different.
But anyways onto your crit. Good advice, so don't worry about it. My character is pretty androgynous, so she was intended not to have propper boobs, that's all due to her bigger weight. Mind you, I still lowered them a bit after reading, I have a tendency to get that area wrong! Cheers for the crits!

Well this update's tiny so I'm going to peg in some hand studies later.

Ah! Thanks, ShiNIN! I'm glad you like my colours! I've been messing around with palletes more than usual ahaha.
Oh, did an animation thing of Shayle too. My mate who does a bit of animation in her own time gave me a few tips about layers, which has made my life much easier.

So I did do some hand studies, but then I went to the pub and scribbled Thain and backgrounds instead.

I wish I had an excuse like that. Really I'm just drawing shitloads of fanart from a crazy fandom. Blatant excuse to draw softcore porn and disjointed 'comics'.
Mind you. Don't drink but I'm pretty much at the pubs like 3 times a week. Weird, right?
And Hey, maybe one day the three of us will kick back in a pub, me with some red bull, you guys with a fine pint each. I was wondering why I don't see Plissken around much, I thought he was just losing his muse!

Well. Don't even pay this update much attention. I'm on the boat tommorow at like 6am and instead of taking an early night, I end up baddly animating my ocs into the night. Good job, Sinead. Flawless thinking.
Timing's wrong, too few frames in this.
Don't even give a damn. HOO HOO

    Naidy!

You have amazing new work, followed it from the start and looking at your new batches I like the portrait below your semi-prominent phallus picture, he's really poppping.
And animation, great stuff and very time consuming I imagine but keep it up!

Ugh I love your color palettes!! You've improved so much since the beginning of this thread aaa

Your animations are gorgeous where expressions are concerned. They bring such life to the character. I think you already know how to make them even better! Can't wait to see more!

BACK taken me a way while to bother with updating. I've been busy again in Ireland, you see. And also managed to catch granddad's manflu.

So, I'm not going to scan any traditional stuff for a while, even if it's the majority of the stuff I've done lately.

Kendall: Basically, how I've been doing it is.
Start a picture: New layer. Fill it white.
    Another layer. Draw frame.
Duplicate frame, merge the original with the white layer.
Rinse and repeat for infinity- then go to animation options and turn layers to frames or something.
It appears at the bottom and you can change the timing of each frame.

Jay: I imagine it'd be time consuming if I took the time to make them propperly! ahaha so far it's been a break from doing my normal sketches. And cheers for the kind words! You're making some decent progress yourself, keep it up!

Shaker:Ah, cheers mate! As far as animation's concerned it's just fun trying to figure how characters would move. As you can see, I'm not that good at analysing movements and replicating them, but it's good practice, good practice.
It's nice stepping out my comfort zone once in a while. I usually learn something from it.

Right. I'm actually bordering ashamed of my late downturn of quality. Ill or not, I've been lazy for MONTHS.

    Goals for myself:
    GET BACK INTO EARLY MORNINGS.

DAILY STUDIES. THEY'RE NOT EVEN DIFFICULT TO DO. YOU ACTUALLY ENJOY THEM.

DON'T RUSH. WHEN YOU SEE A LIMB ISN'T TAPERING RIGHT OR FACES ARE WONKY , ETC YOU GOT TO FUCKING FIX THAT SHIT. IT ONLY TAKES A MINUTE.

DON'T LEAVE FEET AS BOXES, YOU'RE BETTER THAN THIS.

IT'S POSSIBLE TO BE FLUID AND FAR MORE ACCURATE THAN YOU'RE CURRENTLY BEING. NO EXCUSES. WORK ON YOUR CONSTRUCTION.

YOU KNOW WHEN YOU'RE GOING WRONG ON HANDS, STOP BEING LAZY. DON'T MAKE THE MISTAKES THAT CAN BE AVOIDED THROUGH SLOWING DOWN.

STOP AND THINK ABOUT THE MARKS YOU MAKE. BE SELECTIVE WITH YOUR LINE THICKNESS, SHADING, SATURATED COLOURS.

GET BACK TO WORK WITH CONSTRUCTING PEICES WITH DECENT COMPOSITIONS

    MORE BACKGROUNDS.

Fucking going to TACKLE my LAZINESS. KICK THIS BACK UP A NOTCH OR FUCKING TWO.

Man you're lines are getting so sick! But like you said yoursel, don't rush over the anatomy in the imagined stuff. There's enough pics here where you hit it right, so what's with the wonkiness here and there?

Walnut: That wonkiness is a sure sign of my incredible bouts of laziness. I shouldn't be mowing through parts without thinking about construction. Those problems could be gone if I put more time in things. Hopefully I can turn myself around again and curb my bad habits.

    Speaking of which.
These studies have some real bad proportion errors. Need to do constructional sketches before going into things.
