eyo! like everyone's been telling you you have a great style! i like how you do all this subtle and intricate shading around the eye and the nose, makes 'em pop ( just hope that's a style decision and not something you're stuck on). other than that I've got nothing to say, so I'll just subscribe ant hit you up next time you update.

Looking at some pictures from you again, it reminds me a bit on alfons mucha. Maybe the style of Mucha would be interesting for you and you could learn a bit from it. You should look him up and decide for yourself =). Yea and like other said, bit more anatomy studies could help you to too improve. Keep the good work up, and never forget to have fun =).

8. Page of different poses, expressions.
Might not get to it today though since I'm helping gran around the house before Mum comes over. xD

really cool cake/gift drawing! very cool caricature style of a thing!

left-top image from the failspace is best of the bunch, has the emotions and movement in there, makes it come alive... well done! the chubby picture on the right is good too, bold heads are pretty damn scary and the rest of it is random practice i guess.

Just keep them coming! will be waiting for those anatomy sheets (and the animals, i bet you'll ace that ^^)

I would really suggest to you to flip your page often while you draw. It will help you a lot to improve. You can see errors that way easier. Hold the paper agains a light to see through it.

A other way to see errors easier and to correct them is to work on one picture, and work on a other too on a other paper. And maybe start a 3 too. Then working some time on the first, after that move to the next and then the next and so on. You will refresh your view to the drawing this way =).

Keep it up, good artists are born out of effort.

Ah! I notice that my faces are all terribly wonky when I flip them over, but usually then It's too late since I can't work digitally.
I'm definently keeping that "hold to the light" tip in mind though, saddly I'd doodled myself with an afro and crab claws on the other side, so it kind of got in the way when I was drawing this.

Ah well, I'll keep at it!

This may have already been commented on somewhere further down in the thread, but (in regard to your faces) I like the rendering of the individual features, very detailed and well shaded, but their relation to each other and to the face as a whole seems off somehow.

Also, Klaus Reinbach III's advice is very good. That technique has helped me out a lot in the past.

Also again, I wish I had a view like that out my window!

I love how much you practise man, you got dedication.

Everything seems to be improving the more you draw, especially your anatomy and expressions, they're looking lovely. Nice Celtic inspirations you've got in there too, like the Celtic knots on the borders of some pictures.

Perhaps you could start to experiment with different perspectives too, and trying out different mediums other than pencil and watercolour (maybe charcoal or acryllic paint, or inks).

Peregrin: Thanks mate and the view's beautiful isn't it? my favourate thing about being over in Ireland.
Anyways, After mulling it over, I think my problem comes from the fact I spend too much time on the eyes, nose and mouth and barely anything on the rest of the face which makes it seem I've stuck them on a flat board or something.

And thank's Roister, Yes! I've been looking foward to trying out more interesting perspectives and mediums (All I have with me right now is acrylics, pencils, biros and watercolours- but when I'm home- BOOM- Mum's art supply will be pillaged :evil: )
I'm definently going to add perspective to the to-do list.

Hehe , Ok even if it seems to be a bit mean of it, but that sounds like you just want to be lazy! (I know you are not!)

First, there is never a "too late", never! Even on paper you can nearly allways correct it, if nothing goes, then draw it again. That new drawing is like a second lesson for you then, and other people see how much effort you bring in and you yourself will see that you put more effort in it too.

Second, if you already notice it... XD I don't need to say more? =)

I have high hopes for ya XD cause I like the style you draw. So it's a bit selfish of me to hope to see it improve to a awesome style =).

My lazyness stops me experimenting or even taking more than half an hour on anything, terrible, I know. But it's easy to kick a bad habit once you've acknowledged it.

Hey Naidy,

Nice SB you have going!

Tip on eyes: try NOT to draw the (American) football shaped slit-- rather learn to draw all the structures that make up this shape-- draw them as real solid things-- the upper eyelid, lower eyelid, tearbag, and deposit of fat and muscle that fills the space between the eyeball and the brow ridge-- what Robert Beverly Hale calls "the sausage."

Most of those structures are small and delicate, but they are more than mere line! Hope that helps!
