This is a cute pic. The one thing that immediately takes away from it is the lighting effect you have. If you think of a real spotlight, it's an actual cone of light, so it would be brightest in the center line where the widest slice of volume would be and then get lighter towards the side edges. It would also be brightest at the light source and would dissipate the further away it went, so brighter near the top.
Along with the above is that it looks like you laid the spotlight right over the characters (without changing the blending options, so it washes out the figures, including the shaded areas. You can either change the blending option to something that would look better (not sure what might be best in this situation since I don't have PS at my disposal at the moment... maybe one of the dodges?) or if you don't the light on a different layer, you would need to bring the contrast back up on the figures.
