Hey guys! Thank you very much! I'm just writing down what's actually going on in my art related life...

We have to do moodboards, mindmaps, general brainstorming etc for our portfolio website at our school subject "screen design". It was a pretty cool thing that's going on because the professor didn't know ANYTHING about me, not even my name. I showed him my moodboard and my influence map and he told me that I'd be an idiot if I won't illustrate/make artworks for bands, brands, merchandise etc... and that he does not think that I could be more authentic, because I can actually play my own music into the computer and put it up on my website and I am a really open book. I'm not that kind of guy who makes a secret out of everything. If you wanna know - just go ahead and ask me. That's my attitude.
Yeah, and basically that was the awesome moment that gave me power and the will to move on a lot more. I want to make art/design for a living. I love 3d, no question, but I NEED 2d to breathe, to live. And so my professor said I shall go that way without knowing me, without knowing anything about me. He just said what he thinks and what he knows about the industry and the designers he knows (he's working for big companies like Louis Vuitton, Mercedes Benz etc.). So I think I can't have very much better conditions for that all.

Danny, to your question. I just used a relatively big canvas with some very light texture in the background and a standard round brush in photoshop. Opacity = 100, flow = 100, thickness is pen controlled. Some copy & paste & flipping of the layers to get it symmetrical (like the mask), some color layers, and of course a whole lot of details painted on top without any mirroring, just so make the whole thing more human, more... can't find the right word, but you know what I mean.

I just started my long journey and I will come around the whole world hopefully.

Keep it up guys and thanks for your support. I'm really thankful for that power CA can give sometimes. Now have a nice day, summer's starting in germany, I LOVE that weather.

Beeep. Some small update. I like the new "style". This exactly is the moment I've been after for months. I JUST DO whatever I want to. Without any thinking of how, why or somewhat else. I want it, I do it - if I need references, I just gather some.

Hey my friends! There's a lot going on right now. I recently got my books from Andrew Loomis. Got Successful Drawing and Figure Drawing For All It's Worth and I'm working with the Figure Drawing book the next weeks til I am pretty much better in basic anatomy. It's time.

This is just a small update for today since I am too tired to scan all my stuff I did today. Did six pages of loomis studies and feel that I slowly get good at basic proportion of the human body. Give me some weeks and I hope I've nailed it then.

I have to do a bunch of stuff for school (for example my website, some 3d Renderings etc).

Recently I ordered a Dell Laptop so I can paint everywhere I go with my computer. (I have sosaid two homes, cause at the weekend I'm often at my mum's place in my hometown.)

Everythings turning good. I just started DOING work, not only thinking about it.

More loomis. I still don't get the basic forms of the muscle groups good enough. I'll nail 'em anyway! ^^

I haven't been here for a while. You've come quite far Flo.
As a suggestion try working on the line economy, for example those blue sketches are promising. Try to find a rythm and "flow" with it with a nice line.
That may sound abstract but is really simple to apply

Hey Danny, hey Paul! Thank you guys! It's been a long road for now but I broadened it a bit so I can push my limits a bit faster. Today anatomy studies, a portrait and an acrylics painting experiment I did yesterday. Sorry for the bad quality of the photos, all pictures are made with my iPhone 3GS which has a really bad cam.

I actually sketch every day and I got a lot of stuff going since my portfolio website is up (www.penpressure.com), have already the first requests from bands and from a magazine, everythings going smooth, slowly but actually moving forward nontheless.

Edit: plus a still life of ~2 hours. wip!
    Edit2: wip, later.

    Thanks!
    Flo

Left side of the sky painting is painted, the right side the stock photo.

Thanks Melanie You're as welcome as always

Hey there. I have a lot of work to do which I can show when I have finished it.
Here's a quick study I did digital. I don't paint much atm, but I draw more. Got tons of books to read about form, light, shadow, anatomy, composition etc.

    It'S going forward!

Hey my friends! Here's a little update of my painting stuff.
Just ordered some different Gouache colours and brushes, began really focusing on getting better in pretty much everything. My concept art still sucks because there is too much for me at once. I switch back and forth from creature to environment, sky to bottom etc and nothing looks good in the end so I decided to pull out the best still life, environment and anatomy paintings and drawings I am able to to. It's hard for me to keep up confidence. I am totally motivated all around but doing just like one paintings in a day or a few days is something I really need to learn. Focus, focus, focus. Some good artist friends are helping me getting through the brainless storm of crap in my head :>

    Hope everybody's well!
    Take care!

here's my first try in gouache... it went out better than I thought before but If I overthink... it could be even better! haha, I'm completely new to "real" brushwork, so I guess it might take some time. But it's awesome for studies I guess, because I think more what I do as I do in Photoshop.

    Edit: +quick 20 min overpaint!
