Journey of an Absolute Beginner²: Daily Updates...

Hi Everyone,

I'm 18 years old and on my way to get my high-school diploma, but in the next months i have more free time than usually ^^.

Anyway, I started active drawing about 1 month ago. Never did before. ( Yap, im late to start painting/drawing )

Basically the main thing that convinced me to start drawing is just the idea of drawing anything i can imagine.

So i set myself a goal. First step -> creating this theard!

I'm starting from today painting at least one painting/sketch/scribble every day.

Mainly, I want to become a quite good Painter (environments/characters).

Now, I am hoping to get some constructive criticism and good support in the future.

I also saved all of my works right from the beginning...

You are doing it fine, this is a good start. Study human figure, take a look on anatomy books. Bridgman is a great resource to learn from. Keep it going, do your best.

spend most of the day on reading books/tipps/turorials and threads ;D ( basics, proportion and some rules on how to define the basic head ^^ )

finished reading Betty Edwards / started with Dynamic Figure Drawing.

Also did a mountain landscape. I'm pretty satisfied with it / for now.

Also I watched some 'master' Paintings and analyzed them.

I think i'm going to do a simple plan for the next couple of weeks:

Study every single body part on its own ( for about a week ) and besides the whole body proportions.

Starting with the arm/hand.

Today some more arm/hand studies - a few more on paper, but no scanner - buhhh

some of them look kind of weird, i take care of it - but not today ^^

And... an another environment - as usually.

I think i am getting comfortable ( right word? ;D ) with dust/clouds.

Arms/hands-week is going on. Today just one, but a more rendered one.

The environment today went 'good', but water is realy realy hard to capture...

Is there any preferred brush for drawing water?

I like the enviro in post #12, nice colours. : ) For the hand above, you might want to define the joints more carefully, when you look at your own hand you can notice a lot of curves underneath the fingers, so adding those would make it more realistic. Good job with studies, keep on going!

Your anatomy studies are coming on. On the landscapes I'd like to see more variation in colour as they are quite mono-chromatic. Open up a new layer and play with laying down thin washes. Bring in reds, blues, purples etc. Give them some dark recesses. Skies are nice.
