Inemzz: Some are from life, some are from photos, some are loosely referenced and quite a few are completely done from imagination. thanks

Thanks for looking everyone! I really appreciate it.

So on sunday I'll be taking down my paintings from the first exhibition I've participated in (apart from school stuff and prizes). It was a group exhibition with myself, rodrigo and a couple other artists. It was really great to finally get some paintings framed and on the wall! exciting stuff, can't wait to do it again

Here are the paintings I put in along with the tonal drawing on the first page of this thread.

I really have no idea how or the means to take decent photos of my oil paints yet pretty annoying. The female figures one especially is suffering some chronic glare... and bad focus.

Hey there monsi, Im new to conceptart.org. Just wanted to drop by and say really inspiring stuff. What I love the most about your work is the gesture...even in a portrait, the slight incline of the head, the tilt of a jaw really make ur stuff stand out. I also really like your brush work, feels delicate exactly where it needs to be. Thumbs up!

Thanks everyone I really appreciate it

Bing: yeah gesture is really important to me. I tend to follow my gut feeling with that most of the time attempting to make the lines match the vibe/mood that's in me at the time, or what I feel when looking at the subject.

I really need to do anatomy studies again. I think it's been nearly 2 years since I've done proper studies of the muscles soo lazy !

surus: Thanks for the kind gesture mate, I'll try get some more pictures of pencil work to put up I'm pretty lazy with getting my traditional stuff into the digital world

Thanks for the kind words everyone.

I want to try have a go posting things more frequently, let's see how that goes.

Here's a quick portrait study done from photo ref to get me going today. Having a good ref photo makes life so much easier. I need to learn photography at least basics.

Great work in this thread, Monsi. Your paintings are quite imaginative and lively. I feel as if I could reach out and touch the forms and the flesh.

    agelaos, dleoblack,Jacobo : Thanks!

Figured I'd post up a study for a portrait commission I'm working on atm. It's an interesting project considering the sitter passed away in 1934. This is my working drawing from which I will make the finished work in oils.

So much for updating regularly. I'm just too lazy to get the stuff I do in analog into the digital realm need to get my own scanner/camera.
