    P.O.W.! Challenge 41: Shark(s)...

    P.O.W.! Challenge 41
Deadline: Sunday, May 16, 2010, 11:59 pm anywhere in the world.

    Topic: Shark(s)...

I thought we should have a bit of fun, so I'm throwing tis up in the air to see where it lands. There are about a thousand ways to interpret the word "shark," from the litteral big fish that wants to eat you like in JAWS, to those types of people who display the attributes (real or imagined) of that fish. Cold-blooded, voraceous, spooky, untrustworthy, unethical, greedy, dangerous, and all that good stuff. This is a chance to get spooky/scarey/or even with your ex-GF/wife...

You can interpret the art any way you wish, and the more creatively, the better. Any media. B&W or Color. We're also going to stick with the (almost) three-week Challenge period for a while because it seems to be giving people a bit more time to play.

You can present your solution as a minimum of TWO to a TENTATIVE maximum of SIX pages which adhere to standard comic specs as below...and, yes, you can have the first or last (or both) as a splash page if you want. You can go to additional pages without asking if you have a decent idea that requires it--just don't get too extreme on page counts.

REMEMBER: You don't have to have a complete comic to qualify for polling--if you're idea requires six pages or so, go for it, but if you realize you're running out of time, try to get at least TWO finished by the deadline. That's all you need to qualify.

    Standard Comic Book Size:

    --Trim size: 6 5/8" x 10 1/4"
    --Live art area: 6" x 9"
    --Bleed size before trimming: 6 7/8" x 10 1/2" (1/8" in all directions)

This thread will be the place you ask questions on this challenge, trash talk, post WIPs and post your final art. See the READ THIS FIRST thread for all specs.

    Good luck.

Again, this one is three weeks rather than the usual two weeks to see if it will allow more participation or just cause a lot more procrastination.

P.O.W.! Challenge 42 will be posted on Sunday Midnight, May 16, 2010.

A little note here for all of you who have supported the P.O.W.! Challenges...thankyewthankyewthankyew...

Just a reminder--those of you who didn't get a chance to finish exactly the way you wanted to, or ran into deadline problems, remember there is a sticky section where you can post your stuff when you do get it up to speed.

I might actually try this one if I can get enough time free. I had an idea last night just as I was falling asleep--giant sharks that talk floating through the air as if it were water, that are really "death" (rather than a grim reaper character... And I'd do it for laughs, of course.

    Ilaekae-
Flying sharks reminds me of this sketch I did a couple of years ago. I may or may not pursue this but if I do they won't be giant, and they won't be funny, so they shouldn't conflict with yours.

    Red face

I tend to start projects and then flake out before they're presentable, but I have a mermaid idea I'd like to try. So, just announcing this in public to put some pressure on myself.

Been trying to get something together the last two POWs and have fallen short so far. Maybe the third time'll be a charm...

GoooOOOooood starts, everybody. Waterbird, go for it. I'm still fighting with a tree in my backyard that's trying to smack my house, so I may not get mine in.

    Two pages done...

Not sure if I'll do more pages or focus on coloring these.

    If you say so ;P

I changed the words in the first page to fit better with the story. Now they don't fit too well with the art instead ^^' Oh well..

And a wip for page 3. But now, sleep. Exams tomorrow...

If anyone sees this in time, you can take till tomorrow night or even Tuesday morning if it will help. I just got word that I have to go into Pittsburgh tomorrow for a legal thing and won't be back till late, so i can't post the poll before Tuesday night. Just let me know that you might have something coming in a short post tomorrow.
