Just some sketches again. Next week I am going to start working on my observation/still life skills, because I'm entering a still life in a local art exhibition.

Congrats on the second page! bro.
Some sketches from the past week. I was working on shoulders and a little bit of Bargue. This week I'll be doing some still life drawing and probably hip structure/anatomy
(note: remember to draw bigger so one has enough space to figure things out).

Mainly sketch pages, plus the still life drawings I did this past week. I didn't spend very long on them, I'm just getting back into it for a project. This week I'll be trying some Harold Speed (look him up, you can get his book in public domain now) style monochrome still life mass paintings.
The hardest thing I have to draw in my house, can never get him right!

Man you draw some weird stuff.![]()
ah david, by the great A.Santini!
they say he used a strange material that shimmers and warps as it is observed.
nice sketches! love to see people working out anatomy in their sketches.
those pigs are seriously cool - nice design work there.
No crits from me, just keep doing what you're doing. There is quite a big time between your posts, so just stay motivated to achieve your goal

harold speed you say? oshiii-- thanks for the recommendation :3
on a more serious note, the life studies are doing great-- i'm finding much enjoyment in the anatomy studies with the exaggerated features (big head small torso vice versa) shows that you're able to create a convincing odd figure since you retain that knowledge when you transform their body![]()

Sunny: Thank you, it's something I like to work on
ThomasM: Thanks, the pigs are from life so they aren't my design![]()
And I only up date once a week.
teapo: Thanks for the comment, the big heads thing is a habit of drawing a head and then wanting to put a body on it but also not wanting to fill my page with one drawing.
And if your going to look into that book, ie. read it, that means I might actually have to read it myself!
adamsimons: That might actually be true.
JamesSimons: Right back at you buddy
First some sketches and then the still life acrylic gouache paintings I did.
The idea was to do a painting of the composition on the first page, a still life of three pots set in a forest from imagination.
I'm now unsure if I'm going to continue with that idea or to do a piece in ink. I only have two weeks to finish which ever one I choose as it is for a local exhibition.

Some acrylic gouache still life paintings
The last one I did was more opaque and I tried to use more tiles

bruce lee vs sausage ? that is quite an unfair match! haha :3 your construction is very solid and you inspire me to be more methodical with constructing my own drawings~ so... i must study even harder!
also, i commend u for the acrylic/gouache life studies~ it is quite a tough medium to handle-- well, for me at least!![]()

Just looked through your sketchbook and I love how much character comes through in your sketches. Some really nice studies and faces popping up. Only crit I can think of is your more finished works lack the same fluidity of your sketches, the same sort of thing happens to me when I work on paintings/polishing pictures.
So yeah, some really good stuff here. Can't wait to see what you come up with next, so just keep up the good work.![]()
i share ith u the same goal.. of making video games... i even made some titles and stories.. and some charecters.. i wonder if u did the same thing ? puting some idea of ur new game.. or done some charecters? did u ?
i love to do everything and learn everything... i hate to be cornered in one place.. i believe u can be anything u want... Your mind is limitless... check out my sketchbook ... u will find a bit of everything

Velocity Kendall: Danke schön. Something I haven't done in awhile
teapo: I'm sure Bruce Lee could have beaten any inanimate object executing a highly skilful finishing move. As for the acrylics I learnt a bit about them but decided not to use them on this project.
Naidy: Definitely something I plan to work on in the near future
Rain Walker: I've done some designs, mainly characters. I'm working more on skills at the moment. It's definitely something I plan on getting back into and I'll be sure to post them when their done
adamsimons: It wasn't that hard in the end
JamesSimons: ->, |\-> |\-> + P Shin Shoryuken!!. OK!
Just some more sketches this week. I've got this exhibition piece to finish (which you'll get to see next week) and then I really need to get back to some serious learner, which should mean some more finished studies and practice pieces
The idea's I rejected

Your studies all have great construction and a lot of character. Real nice work!
"Just looked through your sketchbook and I love how much character comes through in your sketches. "
yep I agree. each page has about 7 interesting things on it, and I like seeing you figure ideas out.. its a proper sketchbook not one of these poser ones where everythings perfect and nothings real
concerning all sausage-based sketchery, you need to see this

adamsimons: "I don't know"
JamesSimons: Depends on the battle!
Vertical: Danke.
Velocity Kendall: Thank you, I do like proper things. That image, have you seen it bigger? it's quite weird.
Well my exhibition project is done (having it framed tomorrow and will deliver it on Thursday. show is 1st of April), which means now I can get back to putting some serious work into my skills/abilities again.
It was my birthday on Monday and I got a Uni 50th Anniversary Limited Edition Pencil Holder/Extender. Which is much fancier then the 2 dollar one I've been using for the past couple of months (a ITO-YA Pencil Extender, which is actually quite good)
My piece for the exhibition, plus the progression
And ze sketches from this week mein Kommandant

"Here’s the deal! I’ll make an exception and take you on as my special pupil!"
I seen from the start of this Sketchbook to the end is a lot of improvements. I kind of looks like you still have some work to do below the knees. Some areas shows you were getting good art drawing what you see and not what you imagine, and towards the end it looks like you learn a lot from books, but not much from life. One thing I like about learning from life and real people is they are always in perspective, and remembering how that looks helps a lot with just drawing what you image without lines, proportion marks, or planing and a lot of things that helps you create a pose. It can remove the limits on what you can do and imagine. You just image and draw it. I don't know if you can understand what I mean, because some people learn about each part and can't put them together, and books are made by people that studied real life and tell you what they learned and not what they remember from life. It is something you have studied but not as much as the books and other art.
