imnotanoob's sketchbook (I am a noob, though, hehe)

    About me:
Hi, I have been drawing ever since I was fascinated with demons at 5th grade (Good times. Almost got a suspension because of this!). I have carried this interest even further into scifi/fantasy. I currently attend high school in the U.S. Also, I have never taken any art classes, and probably never will. I'm planning to major in computer science. I enjoy classic literature. I enjoy Brahms and Beethoven. Sorry for randomness!

As a side note, I'm a nice person, because I believe that you profit more (socially and economically) by making allies than by making enemies .

Digital paintings done on my iPod. Please criticize them, I'm new to digital painting, and color is a hard thing to grasp.

Yep, I improve at a steady rate year by year Really love to do the imagination stuff that I always forget about studies lol. I basically come up with an idea, then draw the pose, then consult my anatomy book

Thanks Digital painting is not only a challenge in technique but also colors, which makes it very challenging - but don't be intimidated by it! Just be audacious and digital paint, and search for tutorials.

75% of my usual drawings are from imagination, because I always draw at school, and they probably won't allow me looking at nude figures I also find it very exciting and challenging to draw in imagination

I really should do more studies, so I did one based on Bridgman's books. Very nice insights into anatomy. Also, Teen Challenge piece. Took a while to grasp the clouds

Awesome man! You have a great start. Your concepts are unique and interesting and your life studies tackle difficult subjects like foreshortening, enviroments...just awesome man. Keep up the work.

spook - I started having an interest in drawing through da Vinci, so I really love to shade by cross hatching. I've seen a lot of great linework on tablet, I'll give it a try

looks like your doing really well here. I like the way the face in post 12 is looking. She's got nice lips. I love the detail you put into your sketches, but it might be worth trying to leave some areas less rendered or full. The first sketch in post 1 is great, but it's so hard to read. My eye has no where to rest or focus on.

    Great work, keep it up!

More studies. Good stuff. I really like the "tight pen" illustration of the knight holding the sword-- looks like Ian Miller (go look at him if you want to know what awesomeness REALLY is...)

    Study Bridgman.

Also if you're having trouble with colors, try painting in greyscale then throw down color on top of that as an overlay layer.

mokhi - thanks for the crits. I agree with the composition thing - I never plan my detailed pen stuff. I just started off with a few feathers, then worked my way down, adding whatever I wanted to. I never thought it would end up with a crazy, dark knight

strela - yea i'm gonna be doing more studies, and I got Bridgman's constructive anatomy book ready. Also looked at Ian Miller, and his pen studies are pretty awesome (especially the rat guard), but I'm sure someday I'll surpass his awesomeness

Well, major scans here. I really hate scanning, its so tedious and painful. Not to mention resizing, cropping, and having to give all of them a cathegory, sub category, medium, etc...

I did a lot of studies lately from Bridgman and Hogarth.
