Anyone else having a hard time drawing these cars? lol I have drawn like 15 and they still seem to suck. These for some reason are a lot harder then a lot of other cars that I have done. Hmm

Not sure how you're doing it, but you can always draw from photos. Google has plenty of high-res Crown Vic car pictures.

well guys here it is, my crown vic. it's not finished yet as i wanted to color it. but i am moving out of my place this week and i have been super busy. i am going to pack up my computer right after i make this update and i didn't want it to be late. so anyway here's the line work at least. i did this entirely in sketchbook pro. i have been using the mobile version on my ipad lately so i decided to try a pic on the desktop version. it's pretty sweet. in some ways i like it better than photoshop. it's a bit simpler and more straight forward. but it doesn't perform quite as well as photoshop and i know that the lines i got out of it i could have done better and cleaner if i'd have used PS. but it think that's mostly because i just am not used to the program. oh well here it is:

My Crown Vic: a Seattle area Farwest Taxi. (3/4 perspective reffed from a newer model on Wikipedia, rough appearance based on image from the Farwest website. HB graphite layout, inked with 0.5 mm Pigma, shading with black Prismacolor 935 pencil).

kamber man that looks great! i wish i would have had time to render mine a bit as well. but of course i procrastinated and ran out of time. If i could offer a crit though it would be that the tires look very flat. i feel like at this perspective i should be able to see part of the underside of the tire as it goes back into the wheelwell under the car. but anyway, great job man. kudos.

You both have done a really good job You lines are so nice and clean. I hate you!!!! lol just playing but yea. Now mine is gonna look like an eve bigger piece of crap lol. My line quality sucks (Its something that I am working on) kinda slow on it though.

I will say I think I have set a mile stone as far as stiff poses(well on one picture that I did last night) It turned out pretty cool (the pose anyways) anatomy still needs work its not horrible though

PermaN00b: Thanks! (I agree, though, that the tires really don't display any volume. I was fighting hard to keep them and the wheel wells shaped right. But, the fronts of the tires were engulfed in shadow in my photo ref-- excuses, excuses!)

Really like your linework. That's really nice handling on those little cross-piece hubcap thingies!

Diarum Thanks for the compliment! But, I did probably 8 or 9 roughs-- some posted, some not-- to figure out how best to draw a Vic. I probably did an hour of rough studies, then I spent about an hour and a half drawing and inking the final one.

Hey, a monster truck interpretation was not expected! Points for creativity.

Now all we need is Xeon and Cygears' postings.

And, I stand ready for whatever assignment you spring on us Diarum!

Alright since its the 1st I will just post the assignment

    #3 Assignment: Dynamic Pose
    -Can not be a human
-It must be humanoid (One head, two feet. two legs)
-It must be dead (ex. undead. rotting corpse. something to this extent)
-Must be in a Dynamic Pose (movement)
-Carrying a weapon either in its hands or through its body
-The most important rule of all: have fun with it!
-Bonus point for those who do it from imagination

    Question

Uhm, I have a question about your Assignment.
What do you mean with "Humanoid", well, you said that it must have been 1 head 2 arms and 2 legs so give me an example
According to that it also could be a tiger? I dont know^^

Well my Car is in work...

    CyGear

    Edit: Sorry, not a tiger, I meant a monkey^^.....XD

Everyone's FCVs are so clean and sleek!
I'm feeling ashamed of myself. Below is my FCV:

Well, Kamber, in case you start beating me with a club and say it's a rush job, I decided to leave all the restatements and guidelines in to remind myself of how hard it was to draw cars! It was a real struggle, so I'm very amazed how you guys all seem to have it so easy!

I'll be posting the rough sketches and photo refs of the FCV in my SB a couple of days later.

Now, on to Diarum's assignment! March on!

Cygear - yea as long as its a humanoid its fine (meaning that is a human like, ex teenage mutant ninja turtles) something that extent. haha tigers have 4 legs but you could but him on two legs and get him arms

Cygear: Good "save!" Converting your Vic into a two-door coupe represents one of those "happy accidents."

Xeon: Nah! Can't complain. I was going to leave mine more in the rough as well. But, felt I needed to exercise my inking skills.

Diarum: Yes! An excuse to draw "furries". . . Or maybe not!

Anyway, the 2 week deadline seems workable without too much aggravation--I say we stick with the 2 weeks.

    See ya in 2 weeks. . .

diarum wow, that's a lot of win to fit all onto one page! ten points for originality. but on the critique side... i can't really tell if it's a crown vic or just a monster truck taxi. there is nothing wrong with creative interpretation but when given a specific treatment like this try and include some distinctive trait of the subject. i think it would take it to the next level.

cygear lol, great save man. glad you didn't give up on the piece when you realized your mistake. way to stay committed and see it through. turned out great by the way.

xeon great freakin job man! remember how i told you that you were gonna shine when it came to things like vehicles? well i hate to say i told you so, but... also, your linework is there man. you just have to go back and ink it and it will be spot on. if your afraid of ruining the original pic just use tracing paper, or scan it into PS. trust me, you will be pleased with yourself if you do.

next project zombie furries? gentlemen, i am in. see you in two weeks...

PermaN00b - lol I know I know I failed at making it looks like a taxi lol. I did other drawings that looks a lot more like the crown vic but I figured this would be a little more interesting. I think i ruined it by trying to make it better >.<

diarum no you didn't ruin it at all! it looks great. i was just trying to offer some constructive crit. i think your drawing is the most creative and original out of all of ours so don't forget that. i am just trying to be helpful. but remember i am a total n00b, (perma-nantly) so don't think that what i say is necessarily always correct.

    Thanks for the crit, guys!

@ CyGear: I see you made effort to draw the two wheels of the car in perspective as it is (instead of 2 circular round symbolic circles from imagination); great try!

@ Kamber: Blair Squirrel Undead Mode! Or maybe....the Squirrel from Hell. Or The Devil's Furry One.

Lastly, Diarum's drawings is so full of win! This chum is always giving surprises when we're least expecting it.
When I feel stressed at work, all I had to do was to read his posts and drawings and my stress are all gone. Crap.

Thanks for your concern, Diarum, but as usual, we're currently working on your project and the results will put Jason Manley's concept art drawings to shame.

LOL, ok, just kidding. Not sure about others here, but I'm still planning on what to draw, and I'm putting together photo refs (since I can't draw shit from imagination).

Xeon_OND - lol thats cool, trying to find that one pose that you really life huh? heh I think we have some time ahead of ourself before we get to that level of skills I am done. took me a while like a week to finish mine lol maybe like 5 hours (cause I went through like 4 poses before I got the one I liked) Can't wait to see what you guys do . I think the hardest part was the making like undead and not human (it looks like a human other then the head lol)

I have to do this paper for Senior Social studies, and its about how to kill people.... like mass killings to reduce the over population problem, any one else see something wrong with that? and we can make it as inhuman as we want lol...seem creepy to me, but then again that could be just me.
