Hi,
So I'm looking for advice about making my way into the field of concept design, like I'm sure most people who view this site. So I'm just going to give some information about myself and hope for some helpful answers to my questions. I have been studying graphic design for 3 years and have decided that I have a stronger desire to be a concept designer for video games. I am a strong willed hard working person and I'm looking for my best option education wise to make my dream a reality.
I've been looking at schools, particularly Full Sail's online program has stuck out to me. My wife has joined the Air Force and we are currently unaware of where we may end up in the next few months. Has anyone attended Full Sail (especially their online program) and have an opinion on their program? They have the two online programs of Game Art and Game Design, which is the appropriate program to enroll in? I'm guessing its Game Art.
I see that their Game Art program is mainly in 3d creation, with some concept design work before. A question I have for any employed concept artist is: Is it true that learning to work in 3d is a way to make your way into the concept art career? I read somewhere once that the job of concept artist is a difficult job to land and if you work as a 3d modeler or a job like that it is easier to make your way towards becoming a concept artist. Is that true? Or should i primarily focus on my art and design?
As I do not know where I will be living in the next few months online seems to be the only type of school I can focus on at the moment. Are there any other schools you would recommend?
I'm sorry this ended up longer than I imagined, thanks for reading and hope for some helpful answers.
Thanks,
David
