Brewed Ink and Baked Paper Muffins

Hello! I'm Christine, a 24-yr old fem from Philippines. I am an architecture student but I just found out that I love concept art and illustrations more.

I decided to start this sketchbook so I can share my art and get feedback from all of you amazing people here on CA. I was really hesitant because this site makes good use of the word 'intimidating'. lol! I finally found the courage to join so I hope you can help me out and bear with me.

I'll try to post some sketches everyday but honestly, i don't know what or where to start. I know I don't have much and I need to learn a loooot if I wanna get better. Any advice on what to practice on would be very welcome! So wish me buena suerte!

the first one are some sketches i did when i was doing my ojt at a nursing home on the first week of March. during our 3-hr lunchbreaks (the patients were sleeping by then) my classmates also took catnaps while i sketched the hours away..i can't find the other stuff i drew though. when i do, i'll post it too.

the outlines are heavier because i felt the need to practice doing solid lines based on human hands. since my classmates moved a lot, i only had a minimal amount of time to finish the forms..

the second one is just a doodle i started an hour ago, i might try to add details later or maybe not.. i was thinking of our local version of squidballs, the 'pishbol'.. and thought about what human eyes must taste like. lol.. weird,, yeah, i know.. cheers!

Don't forget to do drawings from life, they will help you more then anything else. But do other things too

as you can see, i am addicted to details, painting lips in particular, that's why i never get anything done.need to break this bad habit of mine. grrrrr!

any DotA players here? i actually dream of drawing all the heroes of DotA, but considering how slow I am, that's pretty much impossible.

the reason why I never really tried to finish this is because the anatomy is beyond my skills.haha! no amount of salvaging can help this one.

Hey there, tinapay! Yeah, I play dota, and dota art would totally rock. :-)

Nice to see another pinoy in the forums. I find life drawing really does help me out a lot, too, and the local CA guys have actually had some sketchmeets, just having coffee, drawing people in cafes. But it's pretty irregular, there's probably a plan once every couple of months, but I'm not sure how often natutuloy, he he.

I can't really say much in terms of crits at the moment since you're better than me at this, just keep updating and you'll improve in no time in this board. G'luck!
