    Lindsey‘s sketchbook of DRAW MORE.

    Hello!

Well my name is Lindsey Wakefield and I have stalked this forum for god knows how many years. I have been reluctant to post my art and still kind of am, in face of all the amazing talent that exists on these forums, but that change comes today. I really want to continue improving as an artist, and coming here to ConceptArt, where all artists want to learn, improve, provide and receive advice, is the best place to be.

As for myself, I am 23 years old, born in Arizona, currently living in Texas, and am finishing up my bachelor’s degree in studio art this upcoming May. I am primarily a self-taught artist and love to draw and paint creatures, critters, people, beasties and indescribables.

Alright, so now on to the art, I’ll just start out posting stuff that I have recently finished and go from there. All comment, hints, tips, critiques are appreciated!

    Thanks!

Excited that I am finally approved to post in my sketchbook. Here is some recent, yet older stuff. First is a silkie chicken study and another is some fan art for the amazing creature artist, Allison Theus

A few more oldies plus a recent hand study. The first one was for DeviantArt's Skribble Contest, the second was from me screwing around. I hope you all enjoy!

    Hiya Lindsey

Welcome! and Wow! amazing start to your sketchbook here, don't know why you were worried. The lineart dragon concept in your first post is my favourite so far. Keep up the great work.

Hey Angel, thank you for the warm welcome! Thinking about it now I don't know why I was nervous either, fear of the unknown I suppose.

Anyways, here are a few noodles and doodles from a recent sculpture project I undertook. Just some beast bird I have dubbed Garuda.

Thank you blindshot! Here are some recent studies of arms, a bird, and one with a cloud. The cloud one was my first attempt to work on an environment, which is a huge weakness of mine at the moment. Well that and everything else, I defiantly need to paint more...

    Anyways, here we go!

New sketch for today, this is just another creature doodle that I would like to eventually sculpt after I refine it more. I think I am favoring the middle face more than the others, the one underneath the right one.

So I think I finalized my bull dragon concept (aka Goblin Dragon from a few posts back) and I am starting to render it so I have a good idea on how I will like to sculpt it. Here are some work in progress shots.

@ Adrianor - Thank you very much!

@ ancientdrake - Heh, thank you! I know I am laughing at what I said earlier too, I am my own worst critic.

@ Neyut - Hey thanks a lot! I really want to join weekly competitions but right now my time doesn't allow it (School, assignments, commissions). I will jump right in once time does open up however.

Wow, what a start... Never thought I would say this about a chicken, but the silkie chiken in second post is AWESOME. Colours there are so vibrant, I reaaaally like it. Also, abstract environment number 1 looks really interesting, like something huge made out of bones. Keep posting!

Hey thanks Noora! I certainly will!

Here are some paintings and drawings I have done recently for my classes. Since I have to assign meaning to these, my idea is that people are becoming more of the environment than the environment itself and this is my perception of it. Well that, and these are a lot of fun to do.

Anyways, here we go! Thanks for looking and I hope everyone enjoys!

Another one for today, this is my Bull Dragon rendered out fully. I still need to tweak it a bit more as some wonderful folks have suggested before I sculpt it, but for now I am pretty happy with it.

    Hey everyone!

I have another one of these things for my college class. Your guess is as good as mine as to what the heck it is, so thanks for looking and I hope everyone enjoys!

Hey everyone! I have a bit of artwork to share with everyone today. First I have my finalized Bull Dragon sketch that I am a lot happier with thanks to some members' suggestions made on other sites. This sketch will be used as a reference for the bust I hope to eventually sculpt out of super sculpey.

This is just some scratch board experimentation I did for my drawing class. I haven't used the medium in a good 8 years, so I consider this a good first try. I would defiantly like to keep fiddling with it in the future.

And finally two more abstract things that oddly remind me of potatoes. Strange.

That's it for now, thanks for looking and enjoy!

Hey everyone, sorry I haven't been active but it's been a busy week. Because of that I have some boring newer sketches and older work to share, I promise I'll have something worth while to look at soon.

Another creature of mine, because of how strange it is I have nick named it Derp Dragon. It's very fitting.

And finally some Dragon's Dogma fan art.

Thanks for looking and I hope everyone enjoys!

    Got some sick stuff here!

I can't really think of any crits--except, I'd like to see some more color? This black and white work is beautiful and dramatic, but you gotta have variety to keep your skill sets rounded out. Maybe you're (you probably are) fantastic at color, I wouldn't know, but.. >__>" In some of the rare colored works you have up you seem to be using white for highlights, which is not so good, so..

    Anyway, keep it up!

Hey everyone! Thanks for the wonderful compliments.

@ ezekrialase - Thanks man, I appreciate it.

@ Vermis - Ha ha, don't let it happen to you too like it did me. Thank you very much!

@ Ornstein - Thank you very much! More art is soon to come!

@ JesseM - Yep, color is one of my weaknesses because I enjoy gray scale too much. No excuses though, I need to do it a lot more.

Anyways, here are a few more for this week.

Here is a praying mantis study I did last night. I haven't done one of these in a while so I feel I am a little rusty.

And here are two more abstract things for my studio classes. I know I said I would do more color, but it's part of the idea. Any critique is welcome.

Thanks for looking and I hope everyone enjoys.

Hey everyone, I have two more to show today.

This is another study I did last night. I am trying to understand insect anatomy, color, etc etc. Still unsatisfied but I am working on it.

Also, this is an old commission that I am finally allowed to post. I really enjoyed doing this one.

    Thanks for looking and enjoy!
