Exclamation Yikes! Slideroom isn't processing my image files!

Every time I try to upload anything, slideroom gives me a little exclamation point warning icon in place of the image preview, and the message that "there was a problem processing this item. Please delete this item and try a different file."

    It's also taking super-long.

So is it because there's a bottleneck? Are all the people entering at the last minute clogging the system? I can't think of any other reason... My images aren't terribly large, all are below the jpeg file size limit. I'm also uploading from my C drive, not a flash drive. So I'm kind of stumped, and panicked.

Anyone else having this problem or know a workaround?

They're all 1-2 mb, generally. Are yours like 4-5?

Nope, mine are the same as yours. Makes me think it's my connection. Hmm... I think I'll bike down to my school computer lab and try it there!

    Thanks, drd!
It appears to be working over at the lab.

Different question for everyone now... dpi doesn't matter, does it? Because I just uploaded all of these and I just remembered that some of them have 400 dpi and some have less.

I'm guessing it wouldn't matter, but I just wanted to check to be sure!

    Image Size Recommendations

As long as images are under 5MB, you can upload it. Images do not have to be a particular size. In general, a good image size for good image quality and fast upload is around 1024 x 768 px @ 72 ppi. If your image does not conform to this format, that is OK ... it is just a rough guideline. Images exceeding 1280 x 1280 will be scaled down to fit within the maximum dimensions of 1280 x 1280. Monitors can only display 72 ppi, so increasing this resolution will not improve your image quality.

Also, be sure to save your image as a jpg. For quality level, 8 is a safe choice.

    Thanks!
Though it looks like I'll want to scale my images more. I had them at 2000 pixels at the longest side.
I do have one exception image though, it was that series collection of robot designs and such. That one is about 8,500 pixels long! 0_o
I hope the reviewers would be able to scroll with this particular one because it would be a little useless if one couldn't zoom in.

after an image is submitted, there is a button in the top right side that makes the image full screen. Intuition tell me this is how they will view the image. If it looks good there, then it should look good for the reviewers
