    Congrats on landing the studio job! It's always encouraging to see hard work and skill like this pay off. Can't wait to hear more about it.

    I'm really liking the chopped-up-photo workflow you used in some of the gun designs on the previous page. That sounds like a great way to get ideas and build interesting shapes, and it works really well in your concepts. These quick studies you've been cranking out recently are looking good, too: you really have a grasp on how to establish all of the major elements of a scene quickly.

    Looking forward to more!

    Gah, I feel so shitty for not posting in so long. But I literally haven't done any personal work since I started the job. I get the feeling it will take a while before I adjust to working so much and still wanting to draw outside of work. I still love working at the studio, but just always wanna do other stuff when I'm home (mainly play dota2). I feel like I'm improving tonnes though at work which is awesome, and I love the job. Maybe I'll be able to show something.. someday...

    Saurabhinator Thanks!
    PeterPrime Thanks to you as well!
    Dile Yeah 3D is really working out for me. I'm using it even more at work now, and taught myself the basics of Maya. Its REALLY streamlining my process. Its not always 'speed', but quality too because of accuracy and stuff. VERY worthwhile skill I'm finding in the industry.
    ceddo Hey! No problem at all, and goodluck with everything. Like I said, maybe have something soon (probably about 1 year, lol)
    jNeumann Cheers.
    Aryeh Yeah, its so hard though I'm getting better though. Since I got this job and producing work for people its helped me realise that my stuff is actually useful to people. Thanks for the vote of confidence though .
    sourgasm Your so sexy!
    Meps Thanks. Its excellent, and I'm glad my hardwork paid off too! I've been doing that kind of stuff at work. Just chopping up guns and sticking stuff together is super effective. Gives everything a more realistic base and functionality.

    Yeaaaaah Andy! Really nice update, this looks great, and I see a lot of confidence in your handling of tones. I'm glad things are working out well, and that you've posted again don't play too much dota2!

    awesome andy!!!! Congratulation on the job, thats engouraging!!! Your environment has this great atmosphere. You painted space there by sacrificing some form and detail in the depth. Do the same with your characters. They are also a 3d object in space. Some quick overlays[lightsource color,in case of greyscale, white] with a totally soft brush [having really low flow helps handle it smoothly] over the light areas will breath air between the subject and the viewer +between the subject and the background[even if a blank background]

    Keep up the great work, specially your environments are awesome!!!

    Superfantastic mood in that last one! I like how there's a both futuristic and archaic mood too, that's really cool. Kudos!

    The latest environment looks great! Good composition, and you really nailed the value structure. I'm also enjoying all of the textures and the simple, economic way you handled the rocks in the cliff and the distant trees--everything looks great!

    I can't wait to see some of your studio work, if/when you're allowed to show it.

    Thanks Meps, I can't wait either..but I get the feeling it could be a looong time. And by then I'll be too embarassed to show any of it.

    Text from ma blog because its 3am!!....
    One of the most depressing things about working in a studio is getting to see tonnes of great art from all the guys around you. Especially digging through the archives of older stuff. Its amazing stuff, until you realise that hardly any of it gets released or is allowed to be shown by the artists. Needless to say this is inspired by some great work by the guys I work with;

    Some more bits and pieces from over lunch. I think I'm going to be rarely spending more than an hour or 2 on anything I do at lunches. I get bored and want to jump onto the next.

    Thanks a lot Mactire!

    Just a quick little study from this evening;
    Trying to figure out what kind of studies will actually be useful too me. I still found myself doing the whole copying the picture but not thinking enough about what I'm actually copying, like in this case the forms themselves and what they build on peoples faces.

    Love the enviro mate, and the design of your structures is really good. I only think that there might be some perspective issue in the base of the spaceship but i guess you are doing these in an hour or less. Great work!!keep sharing

    Loving the most recent lunchtime enviroments! great sense of mood and composition.
    Very cool shapes on those ships, although some bits still feel a bit "random" in the more defined stages.
    Characters have improved tons since my last visit, but i told you already.

    Your lines are so good, and your grayscales are awesome! I think you should try to do more dynamic things in them though, like figures flying through them, machines racing/being blown up or something, so that they're not as quiet and 'empty' y'know?

    Keep it up!

    These quick ones are really great, very nice quality in great speed. Maybe a very limited amount of white could offer some more contrast to the focal point and offer the illusion of a wider value range, but ok not sure, i love the composition as it works now.
    Keep up the great work!!!
