Other then that I've been super swamped with some work stuff and school to do much else, really really eally really need to get some anatomy going again as well as some still life stuff. Anyways, thanks for looking, some crits on these if you have them would be awesome, the miniature robot was just for fun, haven't painted any warhammer stuff in a longggggggg while.

awww pooor pikachu! lovin the studies. keep those up!

did you use spraypaint on the warharmmer model? love the colors and your touches of detail on it.

remember to look at the head in 3d space. it's just like a cube or anything else. it has all the perspective rules applied to it the same as anything else. if you haven't checked out Loomis' Heads and Hands book, here's the link. study the head, eyes, and face constantly! never give up. this path you are learning now is half the fun of being an experienced artist. draw draw draw! :]

Great stuff. Do you get images off the internet of like... onions and stuff or look at real onions and draw them?

hahaha swede..... I'm a get yew.. ... meatball attack.

Fucking sex update mate, that charmander blew my mind a while back. If it were my 12year old self I'd call it blasphemy and sign a petition for you to be beheaded, however, now I cannot think of a better way of portraying pokemon
Liking your sketches, verbalising crosshatching techniques is difficult, however. From a first glance, I can drop you some thoughts.

Depending on what kind of rendering you want, there are different ways to go about, generally though you need not think about that.
    These should be your concerns:
On the legs, you have tight sweeping lines that follow the length of the limb as shading, before laying down those broad strokes I want you to lay down some arching lines that follow the roundness of the limb, makes sense?
I think you can agree with me that the nice long lines, no matter how coherent and controlled, makes the leg look flat. That's because you only have one layer of shading, and that layer suggests a flat surface.
If you were to first build up the volume of the limb, and then go over with the same kind of lines, you would have two layers, one underlying showing the volume and space and a layer on top enhancing that with shadow.
It's actually not bad at all, just need some line-variation.

My second thought is regarding the illusion of a well rendered piece, this is what I have come to understand about rendering with lines through analysis if DanielC's work and lots of failure. Starting out with the lines tight to each other as you have, and as I most often do, will give it a quick and rendered look but it doesn't open up for further rendering because there is little space left to use. Most of the paper will be taken up by lines already.
What I have found is that when you start the shading with few lines, very softly laying them out with about enough space to fit 2-3 lines of the same thickness in between, you get a good foundation to start crosshatching on. Laying down another set of lines upon that with some variation to the angle, and another one after that, you will suddenly have the same dense line quality of lines as you had up there, but. big BUT, I like big but's and I cannot.. where was I.
yes, you will have the same density of lines but it will almost certainly be perceived as much more rendered because of the layer depth, three layers of lines over each other gives the illusion of a more rendered piece than one layer with the same amount of lines. Makes sense?
Talking about such things is one thing, but learning is most certainly done through observation. Scanning a sheet of step-by-steps might be one thing, will see what I can do.
Thats what I think you should work on. Your lines are good and so is your rendering, now start taking it to another level. You seem to share the same love I have for crap paper.. and laying down good pencils on plain white trash paper is really difficult. So, you could buy some nice thick drawing paper. I suggest a moleskine with thick sketching paper. They're expensive but also good.

That warhammer is really bad-ass... I used to collect them 6 years ago, I remember painting was so damn difficult! wonder if it's the same now
