Some quick(ish) enviro's and a goofy robot doodle to unwind during math exam studies.
![]()
a recent WIP and some older sketchbook doodle's pulled off the harddrive. And a couple less recent nerdhammer 40k sculptures and yea... can someone point me in the right direction for adding a .gif attachment to my thread title? Do I just put it in the first post? Comments and crits always welcome, cheers!

aaaaaaaand, an acryllic still life that I've been working on. sorry for the crappy photo.
![]()
those studies at the start are great, you should keep em up! feels kinda like you jumped from there straight into the deep end with your full characters and environment paintings, and the foundations feel a bit wobbly.
you've also got pretty much the same density of detail all over, which makes it hard to read your drawings. "should i look at the face or the foot?" kinda stuff it is, because everything seems equally important when it shouldn't be
your sculpting is awesome, makes me wanna paint minis again!

Sorry for the double post but, heres this mornings studies. argh need to draw so much more! man.

And then some stuff from last night before bed. Reffed. the masked boxer guy from a ufc photo. Also went back on a couple of those first drawings and tried to correct the density issue Neon Duck pointed out, not sure if its for better or worse but yea, over and done with 'em now I think. comments and crits would be appreciated. Cheers.

Nice studies, looks like your working hard on these.
[ste] Thanks man, really trying to get all this stuff to stick in my dome.
Welllll, saturday morning, woke up as the dagger stream was ending, it starts a tad early here on the west coast. BUUUUUUTTTTTTTTT, started this while listening to the stream on demand. Should probably take it a little further but I think I'd like to move on to another. Thanks for looking and cheers! Off to draw some more.

Great studies, and so many, you are very motivating!Your sculpts are amazing, great detail and nice use of colors. The fruit and spoon is a little confusing because of the reflection on the fruit, perhaps it wouldn't be so shiny, but I can't wait to see more, great sb!!

If there is a sin against life, it consists perhaps not so much in despairing of life as in hoping for another life and in eluding the implacable grandeur of this life.
- Albert Camus
Linguini-Thanks! I'm really trying to wrap my head around all this anatomy business and agreed on the apple reflection, I put a little more work into it and tried to correct the problem. Cheers.

Said I would try and update this book daily as often as possible, todays study. Still lots and lots to do, like actually render the letters and not just draw them in all shitlike. I'd post the sb stuff I did but no scanner at the apartment, thanks for looking and man, thunderhead ipa is terrible.

you're making pretty good lighting/color observations, but I think you should focus a bit more on the construction/ drawing issues before rendering too much.
in the last one, the spoon head and tail don't relate well to the angle of the handle. I know the spoon ellipses are super hard to nail, but if you think about visually what you're seeing in 2d as well as thinking through the construction it gets easier. The sketchbook is out of perspective. It looks like you tried to shortcut on the left with a shift click and made it a straight up and down, but it really should be angled a bit.
keep going on the potato one~
Aye, agreed. I really need to focus on structure a lot, especially when working straight digi. I'm going to push the potato one a little further but the lighting situation in my room has become a bit iffy at the moment, I've got a lot of sketchbook pages to scan though. I sent another email with what I think is what I'd like to run with. Heres where the potato one is at right now.

There's so much dedication in here it's physically present in the very abstract surrounding us.
So great to see all those studies! I can hardly sit still watching them. Thanks for dropping by, I'll keep checking back for the goodness in here!
It's great kicking it with the Daggers!![]()
Cool job. Nice stuff, looks like you are pretty motivated. GOOD! keep it up!
One thing I would mention though, is to not just draw your bridgman without taking any of it in, or trying to draw them from imagination afterward. It will turn out to be a waste of time (I did this, and I got bored of art because of it). But that is just a word of warning, it may not be the case!
Defiledvisions-Thanks! I'd love to see you implement some of those colorful dragons into your newer work, those were really dope.
FraserMcT- Thanks for the crit, I really should write it down on the drawings which is which, but when I do bridgman I draw one pagespread and then close the book and flip the page and try and draw from memory the same amount of drawings again. Here are some more studies and figures done yesterday and today and some sloppy guns during math class, I was going to scan more but I got kicked out of the computer lab as a class started. As always, comments and crits are much appreciated and thanks for looking. Cheers.

You're representing Oregon well. Keep it up!
Valve-Haha, thanks man, I'll have to check out you're SB.
In the mean time, I started coloring the trolly car, its the first in a (hopefully) quick series of pictures for a group history project at school. And then some scans of some drawings from the beginning of this school year. Thanks for looking, and comments and crits always appreciated. Phew, lotsa drawing today, off to drink me a beer.

I forgot to mention your sculptures! daaaaamn they're cool. Do you carve them or cast them?
Really sexy sketches these latest one's, and wtf? the 2 sketches further down really stand out, really interesting concept.
WOW You r hard worker!! Like so much the sculptures! It's amazing!!!
Your pencils are grate as well.
I hope i can see more soon![]()

I love the last two sketch pages, looks like all the hard work is starting to pay off already.
-Defiled Visions- Haha thanks man, the sculptures are hand done in a 2 part sculpting epoxy called kneadatite! I think I'm gonna have to start a sculpting log so I don't bog down my 2d work with silly monster sculpts.
Miketaylor-Thanks, I've realized I'm not getting any younger. =P
[ste]- Thanks!
Alright well just so I don't post and post nothing visually stimulating, here are some skateboards I've painted over the past three days or so, Captain america's eyes still look all phucked up, I guess Ill just have to study more eyes! The punisher board was reffed from a punisher max cover, #2 I think, I just switched up the colors on the face.

This is just badass, thanks for commenting my sketchbook...nice designs and line quality, really like your way of studying bridgman, think i'll copy it
like this a lot

can i ask you how long it took you?
Aye, thanks for stopping by my SB. Hmm, not sure on the time on that sketch 3 maybe 4 hours? It was mostly done on and off sitting in the back of a history class. Feel free to borrow the bridgman method, I snagged it from Dave off the Dagger stream. Cheers! And whats been done further on the tram coloring, would like some crits on this one as I really have no idea what I'm doin on this one.

really nice studies here man!
the last posts looks like you did a jump on the evolution![]()
John Silva-Thanks. =P
Soo here are some hand studies I did this morning before class, and I landed my first like, 'art' freelance gig doing some skateboard designs so I'm pretty stoked on that. As always thanks for looking and comments/crits are much appreciated. Cheers!
+Edit+
Removed last hand study as the image won't resize.

Woh~ SOOooooooo many studys! make me feel like lazy bum lol!~ (thinks to self must work harder!!)
pretty kickass sculpts there too, question, when painting them do you use acrylic/airbrush?
You're really working hard, and that's great to see. Your method of using ref then no ref is one that I need to start trying to implement into my studies as well. Keep up the good hard work and maybe put up some more drawings from life as well, though that apple and spoon was looking awesome. Cheers
