CyGear - New Stuff (Portrait, Random Stuff)

    Hello Folks,
I'm really impressed by the number of sketchbooks. So I thought it would be good idea to create my own sketchbook in order to present my work.
I would be very appreciated about criticism and advices.
If a description should not be clear, I will do my best to make it clearer. English is not my native language and I have a few problems with it, yet.

edit: So, I did this picture 15 minutes before and want to have an another "SB-Picture" if you know what I mean...and ehm criticism is very pleased

    Eye,Mouth....Link?

I've made up my mind a few mouth and eye areas and practiced a little.
I am going to concentrate more on work like this and at the same time, I will draw more contrived monster or persons.

The second one is Link from the Game Zeldacarina of Time and other one's.
It is not a good picture, it's just an drawing from imagination on plaid sheet...
really bad, but I'm a little bit proud of it, because everybody in my school said it looks good....

    Watercolor

My first watercolor picture since quite a few time. I do not know, maybe 3rd school year?
    Whatever, well, here it is...
I think the lighting is not that I have succeeded and the colors should be something different. Otherwise, everything is o.k.. About constructive criticism would be pleased.

Hi, try to study from Andrew Loomis, he is a great teacher who helped me a lot: http://fineart.sk/index.php?cat=1 (Nudity warning).

I recommend you to study Succesfull drawing first. Keep posting your progress.

Hey m8! I do love the drawings of the eyes and the mouths. Especially the mouth drawings look very correct. Try to give the iris a little bit more detail and the eyes will look awesome. Keep it up

    Question

What does it mean "Draw from life"?
I think it is to observate something or somebody and then look at his/its mass, flow etc. and than copy it on paper.
I do not exactly know what it does mean so help me please.

    New

    Firstable, Hello.
Well, I have studied Andrew Loomis' Ideal Man Proportions and made a picture. If there is something wrong with it, please tell me.
And I had drawn the position of the nose in the face.
    So, here they are.

Would be very appreciated about criticism!

Edit: I have to add, that I had a few problems with the proportions, well, would you say, that I am going to be better if I draw it more than two times a day?

Drawing from life means that you draw things that are around you, like drawing toys, book, kitchen items anything really that is an object around your house or the world draw everything around you because it helps you a lot when you do, try and draw everything that you see and how you see it.

lookin good so far keep up with the studies!

    Hey,
thanks for the replies. I am very glad about your answer Diarum, because I really did not know what it does mean.

@ Xeon_OND: Yeah, I had studied the eyes and mouths by a book from my school library. Actually, I was surprised about their materials.

so I will keep posting...next post in approximately 4-6 Hours....

    Proportions Male Femal and Eyes....=)

So, here are two further pictures I have drawn today...
I think I am improving in drawing eyes and the body proportions are getting better, too.
The next level is to draw the bodies from imagination.

thanks for the tip I see what you mean. unfortunately it's kind of hard to erase stuf when your using charcoal and when you have made it very dark. So I guess I'll have to take that advice with me for the next project. Keep updating!

I have updated a new picture in my firstpost, because the other one is really....ehm...let us say "bad"...it is not my style, it was only a brief imagination without meaning etc.

    DFL and Poses

    Hello,
I have drawn a "Drawing-from-Life"-Picture yesterday evening and a few human poses...
One of the poses are not good, it looks really weird, but it was from imagination so why not.
If you ask what a Commsa DC is, it is a special pen for Penspinners like me.

I'm glad your doing some differnt studies. The still-life drawings is what I hate the most, I mean to draw not what you have drawn. So that's good to see you can manage to keep it up. Your posemaniac? studies look kind of good. But I do think that your legs often seems to be a bit to slim, especially after the thigh. Otherwise keep it up and post some more! Good work with the cup. / Brain

    Cool

    Hey,
@ Brain: Thx man, I did not see my mistake. I thought: "There is something wrong but what? The legs are really a little bit slim so I do it better next time.
Yea, it is time to do other thing an drawing from life is one of the things I did not do until now.

But now I am trying to do a human body with Open Canvas, but now I think it is a silly idea to draw by OC with a MOUSE. It is hard to make lines and right compositions so I will buy a graphics board because it makes a lot of fun to draw with OC. It is so comfortable.

Pen and cup looks good, especially pen! Are you using charcoal? If you're and you're still able to draw like this, you're doing very good. I can't even handle charcoal.

    Thanks and bye

    Hey,
thanks a lot for your replies and your honest opinions.

Xeon_OND: Well, I did not use charcoal, I just used a graphit pencil and tried to do some nice shadows, but I had looked into a "Book for Perspectives" and i have to learn a lot about light and shadow. Thanks for you reply, mate, I am looking forward more of your work.

Habbo: Thanks for your (really) short answer....= )

Brain: It is hard as hell drawing a picture by mouse on OC why I am going to get a board....sooo yea I want to say thanks a lot for your post. I did not use charcoal but I think I will get some pieces of it, shadows will be better, I heard.

So I have to say that I will not posting anything for this week because of my school. I have to do my exams for math and so on. Sorry, but school is really really important for me. But if I have a break I will draw some sketches.

    Board?

Well, I haven't got a idea, yet. I should ask my parents for a little bit more pocket money....

Maybe a cheap one, a Wacom. But if my parents say that quality is important than I buy an Intuous...

Great eye end mouth studies you got there. I also like the way you shaded the pen. I can't bring myself to pencil or charcoal rendering
