    storyboarding with coro HOMEWORK THREAD!!!

    what's up guys?
hope everyone has been enjoying the goings on this week!

i wanted to post some stuff from my storyboard class; some epic beard man progress shots, coke zero boards, ad those army or two boards, so you could look, laugh and relive how insanely fun the class was ...

i also wanted to create a thread for you guys to post your homeworks in. storyboarding out a sequence is a pretty difficult task, so id expect that only the most serious and dedicated of you will actually do this ....(thats me trying to goad you into doing the assignment so you can prove how serious about being a well rounded artist you are) ...

remember that clear storytelling outweighs technical facility, so dont be afraid to be creative and experiment! if drawing out super complicated scenes is too much, dont be afraid to use photos, dolls, you could even use a dog turd and a sham-wow for all i care! post em up and ill be happy to help you out and feed you with feedback. i cant wait to see what you guys come up with!

I've linked it to a few friends and every reply is just "..." although one person managed to gasp "that was weird".

Coro - great class so far. I'm just at the point where you are introducing the Epic Beard Man video, and for some reason, it keeps crashing Elliminate on my computer. I hope I can watch the rest of the class because storyboarding is one of the main reason I dropped the cash for this Discovery course (amongst others, but, I was really looking forward to this class).

    anyone else having playback problems?

I had this problem too and it crashed my Elluminate at the same time. After I started it again and skipped the short part everything was going normal again.

I guess I'll post some practice, starting off extremely simple.

Great class Coro! Storyboards look great, Army of Two Treatment A is especially snazzy.

Okay I know you suggested doing a storyboard from a movie... but I had been wanting to do a storyboard for my own concept and this looked like a good chance, so I made this today after watching your class on demand. This is the opening sequence for a game.

Hi guys! And thanks for that great class Coro! I just had to try storyboards again. I did something a couple of years ago and think I have an understanding of how they work so this was a fun revisit. It would be great to do something for a client one day. I did this in 2 hours, blocking it in really rough, didn't want to spend too much time on it.

Hey everybody. I took some time since watching (and re-watching) Coro's class and I have broken down a scene from Christopher Nolan's Insomnia.

You can watch the scene here if you like:
    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/663627/insomnia%20clip.mp4

To start I did some quick thumbnails to try to figure out what best describes the clip.

Next I took some screen grabs and began to polish compositions. I tried to combine information from multiple screenshots into a single frame in some instances.

While laying down my initial drawing I tried my best to understand the eye level and perspective for each camera setup. I found this tricky because of the forest backdrop. Here are some screenshots that I marked over to try to get an idea. Not sure if I got it right? Anyone?

And here is what I came up with. I felt pretty good up to the coloring stage. I think I got a bit heavy with black levels (as Coro had warned). I will try to watch that in the future.

I had a lot of fun doing this and I learned a lot. Thanks for the class Coro and I'd love any comments from the community.

    Paul
