    Angry d_m:// dmoreno's sketchbook

Hi CA, this is my new sketchbook! And my first one, too. I hope to improve in many (MANY) ways; so hopefully you will be teaching me and I will try to support the community in every way I can.

My name is Daniel Moreno, i'm a 21 yrs old venezuelan student, and aspiring artist.

Here are some of my latest drawings, any coments/critics/kudos would be highly appreciated!

Looking good so far! I see you're pretty confident in your lines, which is good. Though I see you're struggling a little with hands. Try drawing your own hand, it will be good practice. Also, don't hide the beauties! Hands are brilliant tools of expression, you really don't want that to be hidden in your work, do you? *shouldn't be talking, harrharr*

    Keep posting!

Monkeydominator, Nlete: Thanks for the critique! ; I've been practicing drawing hands these last few days, and I'm slowly getting accustomed to their shapes and forms; i'm posting an image that will hopefully reflect that (or not; wich is also valid as I need more practice )

DHTenshi: Thanks for stopping by! I don't have my wacom with me right now, but it is surely on my To do List, as soon as I have it back!! I really appreciate your help; thanx again for the tips!

The first image shows a bit of my hand studies; the second one is a model I did of a concept of a friend of mine (Arquimedes); I modelled everything on Maya, except for the head witch I first sculpted on Zbrush and then retopologized and imported to Maya. Hope you like it!

yeah I made it rigging friendly! another friend of mine is in charge of the rigging process, actually.. and I hope to practice animation with it anytime soon. As for your observations; I'm going to aply them with my personal copy of the model (aka portfolio sample); because I was asked to stick with the image planes and the reference by my friend. I'm glad you liked it!!

I checked your skeckbook too, and it has some really nice lifedrawings and paintings, keep posting!

Nice start to your SB mate!! Be careful of your finger length in those hand studies as they look a little long. Keep up the good work my friend!!

    Hello there Dmoreno!
First off, thank you for visiting my sketch book, and welcome to cA (once again). I see you had an account for a while now, but no sketch book.
When you make a sb, you literally get a new life here!!

You have a pretty wonderful start, and i wish you the best of luck.

Your line quality seems pretty good, and you don't seem a complete stranger to figures, anatomy and portraits.
Still, more studies, figures (perhaps some posemaniacs n bridgman)
values, proportions, real life studies n so on would be great!!

Don't forget to check out the community activities centre and the lounge for project and inspiration.

Also, have a look at this, if you ever feel down.

Have a nice new week, and update soon!!!

BlackDelphin: thank you so much for the kind welcome to the comunity; the lounge is definitely the place for inspiration!!

Bridgman studies are high up on my priority list, these days i've been really busy planning a trip to LA with a couple o friends and my gf for this years SIGGRAPH! it's a great opportunity and wasting it is not an option. So as soon as all this visa and university madness gives me some room to relax, I'll be glad to keep drawing and animating.

Here's a drawing I did of my girlfriend, she dindn't look offended when I showed it to her; although I did flip that page kind of fast for her

Hey Dmoreno, thanks for taking a look at my SB.

You've got a really interesting line quality going on but don't be afraid to explore the structure of your figures with more light sketching. You want to understand the structure of the form all the way through it, and show that to the viewer as well.
