Good work on the studies. Your going to improve for sure when you study the details. The woman's torso looks nice. I feel like you need to try using a larger value system with the pen tablet. Keep it up!

Your going to improve if you keep updating.

Niva. Thank you! I'm glad you are happy about my post.

*Rena* Sometimes i don't know what to detail anymore. I am a bit afraid of doing rendered things... Thank you for your comment

loper42 Thank you! I will give it a try to use more values in my paintings!

    ---------------------------------------

    NEW ERA HAS BEGUN!

I am totally amazed of Algenpflegers sketchbook.
He left this community and this will be my small "tribute" to him.
It is amazing how rapidly he improved and how much drawings and paintings he had done in one day!
    We miss you algenpfleger ;_;

I hope i can also improve that fast. I think at the beginning i am painting not so much, because i am a slow painter
    But we will see!

    Update this evening!

    Woooooooooooooah!
I did more than i thought i would do!
    Great!
    Started with posemaniac doodles!
The first page is 90 seconds poses, the other ones are 60 seconds. I am trying to get 60 seconds done

After that studies of eyes after Vanderpoel and Bammes
Then a small head sketch without reference. I am pretty happy. Went better than i thought. Chin could be a bit longer but hey! For the beginning it is great imo!

I hope you like my update.
    Motivation is welcome!
And is this a good stuff for a day?

    Greetings, Silwynar

    About those posemaniac studies.
My advice is that you do not limit yourself with time
doing those drawings. Take one pose and draw it as
long as you need to. Try to memorize the pose correctly.
Later when you'll have more experience, you could do time
    limited ones.

Eyes are looking good so far Keep it up, you are improving already!
Maybe try to pay more attention to your shadows and values. They seem to be placed kind of random on some drawings.

I am such a lazy shit.
    Only one quick sketching page!
But at 5 o'clock i went to my teacher like every wednesday and hey gave me such incredible instructions for figure drawing and these posemaniac time limited drawings.
I really need to pay more attention to gesture and form and light and ... Oh!
    I need to practice everything!
Such great 2 hours which were great!

    Hello,hello!

You're working very hard and doing a hell of allot of studies (loved the eyes), watch out for the messy lines though, it's a bad habit *which I do myself* xD

Anyways, I've noticed your faces are coming along too, but they're still looking a little 'off' in terms of proportion. Perhaps drawing them bigger will help you map them out (and give an excuse to put the same amount of detail in features as you have done individually in the studies)

So far so good though, you can see you're working hard and that's what matters so keep up the good work
    Take a look? - Sketchbook -

Also, why not check these guys too?

I just wanna say a few things.

First. Algenpfleger is a great artist and his journey is really inspirational and fantastic in every way. But keep in mind that everyone's different. You don't have his brain. Don't follow his path too much and copy his way of studying (if you don't feel that it suits you of course). If you don't think it's fun to study the stuff that you're studying right now but you do it anyway because he did it, it'll only tear you apart and the joy of art will be gone. I don't know if you do this but I just wanted to mention it anyway. But if you do this, then re-think about it and try to find the joy of art first. I think it's the greatest key to success.

Second. Try to spend more time in your studies, especially the figures. A good way is to do 90sec poses and try to put in a bit more construction in them, like a ribcage and pelvis. And draw a lot from life! As much as you can! (I must also do that, but I'm a lazy fuck so don't listen to me haha).

Last. I can really see improvement already. That's great! I really like the eyes, yummy!

Okay, that's it. Time to sleep! Have fun!

    hm.
you know what I think could help your studies?
Pick something you really want to improve on. Say, heads. Then spend time picking out parts of the face (nose, eyes, mouth, ears, form of the face, proportions, etc) and study them. Then move on to other parts of the body.

Cause I think it can be pretty overwhelming if you try to do everything at once.
Aim for something, study the shit out of it, do something else, go back one step and repeat.

Also do stuff from imagination afterwards just to check how much you obtained. You can also check what you know by doing a full figure from your imagination, you'll know what to focus on after that.

    Hope that helps..

    All the best man!

    COMMENTS

Naidy Yeah thank you! Drawing big is the next thing i will start doing. Especially for faces

    hücumkedi Thank you man!

Spaggen Nothing to worry. I am still going my own way, but somethings Algenpfleger did were just great and funny
And actually i have joy as never beforce. Makes a lot of fun
For the figures i am starting Villppus constructions.
    Thank you dude!

Loathsome Yeah, figure drawing! ;D Don't want to do only one thing. Than one thing is locking great and the other one shitty. I want to grow better slowly but at every figure piece so it looks alright at the end instead of "His cahracter is shit, but looks at his epic arm!"
    Hope you understand me
    Thank you :>

    ------------------------------------

Today was good! Watched over 3/4 hours Vilppu DVD, then made some gestures without time limit and then practiced a few heads.
Still need so study head so much ._.

    Hope you like them!

When I first did 60sec drawings from life they were total shit, but learnt to start with a stick figure and then move on to a more fleshed out version. They are hard, but persevere and they will look better.

Wow you have update a lot since I visited your sb!!!
    Lots of good studies!!
I think that the 90-60 sec pose are helpfull becouse they force you to understand the complete figure and the movements rather than to be confounded by details, but I think that you also could do some slow drawing taking your time as LtPlissken sad, you could do both.
You have done a good job!!!

Drawing gestures like Vilppu do it is very good. I use to draw quick gestures (30s - 90s) a lot, but didn't help me understand as much as those Vilppus gestures are

    Holy SHIT!
    Dudes, you are all awesome!
So much comments in one day!
You are motivation extreme. Thank you all!

LtPLissken Yeah, this support is awesome! These are all great people here! Here is the link to Algenpfleger's sketchbook so you can take a look at his awesome journey

alexson Thank you dude! I will definitely keep this up!

Black Spor Yeah! I am trying to get Vilppu's technique down and then use this for my character drawings. Just drawing the outline as i did before when i started the drawings again is useless.
I have to do it with more feeling for form

Moriah Yeah! It is nice to give the body a more three dimensional feeling

alesoun No really comment, but thank you anyway for visiting my sketchbook dude!

krysjez I understand what you want to tell me, but i think it will just come by practicing more and more. And this is what i am going to do
    Thank you for your comment!

*Rena* Yeah thank you! Not so much as i could do a day! I need to draw more. This is actually brain shit...
But yeah, these fast poses are great and i will do complete figure drawings soon. Just wait and look in my sketchbook every day :>

.:WoLf:. These vilppu gestures are a great way for learning figure drawing in my opinion because vilppu thinks that the way of character telling is much more important then a 10000000% correct anatomy figure.
    Thank you for comment!

Yasu. Thank you, but atm i will try to focus on my figures because they are really my weakest point And my dream is to be awesome at figure drawing, so i need to draw moooore! >: D

    ------------------------------------

Phuuuw, that was a lot of comments! Thank you all again!

Today i didn't draw that much because i had to focus on school work, a older friend of mine came and practiced some school shit, then watched "Sweeney Todd", which was a great inspirational movie! 5 stars for this movie!

Drew a few gestures, and then stuff from imagination because i need to draw more from imagination to check what i learned and what not. These gestures are already paying off, but i see that my anatomy also got lots of issues.
Need to practice more and then check what i learned REALLY !

See you tomorrow and please don't be shy to leave a comment at my sketchbook!
