Never-ending journey - Fundamentals ahead! (Update May 3nd)

    Hey everybody!

My name is Lukas and I am a eighteen years old "artist" from Germany.
I am living near to Trier (Rpf.) and i am still going to school for 2 years.
After school i want to go to some art or game design school to reach my goal to be a concept artist or perhaps illustrator somewhere in the future.
So there are only 2 years left to get so awesome to get the chance to go to art school or to start the first free lancing work...

A few of you might have noticed that this isn't my first sketchbook.
I started a new one because some times there's a point in your life where you realize that you need to get your ass up.
And actually this happened to me.
I got into the MSS (upper school), so there are 3 years left till my degree.
Because i really want to do something with art in my job i realized that i really need to get up. Stop wasting time and all this stuff.
So here's a fresh start again.

    So far about myself.
I don't know how much time i really get everyday because school got kinda hard but i really try to work as hard as i can.
I would appreciate your critique and support very much.
    Thanks..

    Greetings,
    Nemome

I hope you keep this one up. You shouldn't worry about not posting, I hardly posted much in the first year and then rocketed. You're still at school and are at the age where you have a lot of subjects to study. You're not here to impress, but to learn and be encouraged.

    Nice seagull.

Since my last post, i didn't draw soooo much, but the pictures i draw went out very nice.
If i look back, is see a lot of improvement.

I find drawing the negative space helps a lot - this means drawing the space around what you want to draw, making it more of an abstract exercise, it also means what's left has to be right and the detail will fall into place later. Just keep sketching and it will fall into place as I can see you are improving.

Ah! I didn't see you had a new thread - had the old one bookmarked so I just went to it from there Good luck with this one! The last drawings are great, especially the eye studies and the woman's head
    Insanity is the key!
Also, studies are a key. And passion is a key. Also, so are inspiration, motivation and dedication. Talent can be a key. Insomnia can also be a key, depression is a sad rusty little key. Damn, artists need one hell of a keyring.

Oh my clock rings... Time for a UPDATE!
Only traditionell drawings, but still life's, a lot of things from ref and a char without ref (looks ugly!)

Please critique, i really need them for improvement

    1. Drawing: A few still life objects really simple drawn for repeating the basics
    2. : I tried to draw a few trees, but they have a comic style. Perhaps i will try it more real
    3. : Face with Ref. There are a lot of mistakes in it, but i like it because the face has something like emotions!
    4. : Welcome to the UGLY BOY! Without ref... I have to draw more without ref...
    5. : Just from today! A nudity drawing. I will do more of them. They help to practice the figure!
    6. : Now the still life! I know you were just waiting for it! A spoon on my rubber!

Now grab your keyboard and write me tipps or comments! Please!

Hey thanks for dropping by my sb. The nudity drawing is nice, perhaps the structure underneath the skin is a little messed up, but I guess with some practise! that wont be a problem.

You've got a good eye for colour and good for you not using the colour picker. That tornado is full of life.

With trees the bunches of leaves overlap each other a lot and when in full leaf you don't really see the branches that much. Also think about the whole foliage as an abstract shape, sphere, cone etc and shade it that way. Just do more and it'll come.

@Konstruktion: Thank you Yeah, but after a model it would be more nice than a picture.

@Black Spot: Youuuu again! Thank you for dropping again in my sketchbook. Yes, your advice with the trees seems to be correct. Thank you!

Hello hello, love the digital paintings and them eye studies are amazing!
Keep working on facial anatomy though, sometimes your features are low on the skul, if you get my meaning, Loomis is very good if you want to learn how to put down features on the face.

Keep up the good work though!

Nice figure studies, It's a good thing starting with pencils. Drop a look at Bridgman's books, they helped me out a lot.

    @Naidy:
Hey, thank you for your comment! I already got Loomis, but actually i'm doing "Gottfried Bammes - Die Gestalt des Menschen", which is an excellent anatomy book in german!

    @Creusa:
Hey, thank you! Yes, i love pencil :> Bridgman is great, but hard imo. I told Naidy that im using Bammes actually. The progess is going to be great i think...

Hey Silwyar, it's nice to know that you have the will to improve on such early age!

I think you have a good point on your still-life, I especially like the rubber and glass drawing. Keep going on your figure drawing too!

And yeah... Bridgman is hard for me too. But somehow I found many different opinion, like Dsmith who really do well with Bridgman (just like Creusa). I still think about just following which one you feel the best, though...

P.S: Uwf... I couldn't understand Gottfried because it's in german. Any tips to help?

    Hey,
    i'm back!
I had a time where i hadn't any motivation to draw anything!

But know i think i'm right back... with new Power!

Just started a bit with acrylic. The first two acrylics are ooooold, but the other ones are "new".

    Here they are!
    1: A sketchbook page. I don't know why but i like it
    2-3: Some gesture training
4-5: Some pencil work. First one was a speedy and last one a environment without refs!
6-10: Acrylic work! I like it!
11: Did some anatomy out of "clay"

Critiques or comments are welcome as ever

    Greetings, SIL!
