LOVE your creature concepts! You have a really good grasp on lighting too, something I don't have at all haha. Your armor study is really beautiful, I really like the earthen, worn look it has while still being highly reflective....as if it's been with it's owner for many battles but he keeps it well cleaned
The sea monster piece is by far my favourite...I love seeing the different stages that you must work at, shown within the piece

Thanks for stopping by and dropping a comment Zepheenia, I appreciate the feedback. The sea monster is an unfinshed C.O.W entry the perspective is totally wrong cause it was an after thought but the creature was still decent looking though.
    heres some sketches from today.

Your work would benefit from working out the proportions a bit before hand... doing thumbnails and studies and so forth. Some of the forms (like the dragon's mouth) aren't relating to the rest of the figure, and some of the detail asserts itself much too strongly.

In Andre Lhote's seminal book "Treatise on Landscape Painting," he gives some golden advice

"...it is not pictures but experiments that should be made; when an experiment succeeds, it is bound to lead to a picture."

"...there are two sorts of artists: those who paint to make pictures and the more honourable who paint to learn how to paint."

It applies to making fine art... and surely if someone is being paid to make illustrations, they have to make pictures. But there's always an element of learning to whatever we do, I believe, and if we post our work here it's because we're trying to find a path to something better.

    Good luck in doing so.

Thanks for the feedback P Sage I've been meaning to make a habit out of doing more thumbnails to explore more ideas sometimes I feel like I'm repeating myself.

Hey, lots of awesome characters an creatures.
You have a lot of great ideas in here and you have some cool use of color in all your pieces. I really like that light red background contrasting with the dark purple and black on the dark elf looking character. Very cool feel. You have a pretty recognizable style with your use of color, keep it up and keep pushing.
Edit: Thanks for the sketchbook comment!

hey Chris, you have some awesome stuff in here man! really cool sketchbook, im actually surprised that more people arent leaving you comments on it. but, i really like the character work, and monsters, very cool. i would like to see you really push one of your designed to a higher level of finish. probably one of your characters, just stick with it, and really bang it up to a pro level, i think you could do it, and it would look sick!
