It was my best painting so far. I used to draw as a kid so it's not my first adventure with drawing but then I stopped for about 10 years which I wish I hadn't :/

Looking good Justyna! If I could give one advice it would be to draw more with just lines to get a better foundation. Before you jump into shading and colors and all that. Nice work!

Thanks for the advice alexson. I will try to concentrate on sketches, without colors (it's just so much fun to paint with tablet that I can't resist it sometimes ).

Hey man nice update! Don't get me wrong, do what you think is fun! I just mean drawing is a big part of painting. Have you read the books on anatomy and more by Andrew Loomis? If not you should get 'em! "Drawing the head and hands" and "Figure drawing" is specially awesome, but all of his books are great. You can find them as free download with google.

Good to see that you decided to get a good foundation. That seems like a great idea, since you're clearly very talented. It's very important the part were he does the simple figure: The exercise of trying to make a lot of positions from your mind really is one of the best that exist. I would also recomend Villpu, he has a book an a few classes that you can watch at home.
If you're a programmer you may also try to improve your studies with some 3d program like Zbrush that allow you to sculpt in the computer (may be easier for you since you can device your own scripts and stuff).
Hope to see more in the future, lots of talent here.

For some reason, her hips and feet strike me as way way way too small. Especially the feet. I'm used to hips being a bit wider than the chest, I suppose. Makes females look.. female... to me.

It's really difficult to draw neat lines, I have to erase them and correct a few times. I have to practise more, well, weekend's coming so I will have more time to draw, I hope.

Not much of an update today because it's my brother's birthday and I wanted to draw him something He would probably prefer a picture of naked girls but a flower (kind of) has to be enough this year. But next year I will draw him something pretty

You're doing good. Some days will always be worse than others, so don't worry about that. If You have a bad day for shading/value work, try something else, like for example blind contour drawing.
When You're doing studies from Loomis (or pretty much anything else), pay closer attention to proportions. I'm pretty sure he got them right in his drawings, so don't rush it and try to notice the relative sizes of various body parts and how they line up with other ones (like the nose being directly above the hip bone in some poses, or the arms being some two headlengths wide, etc). Try to find lines that connect some landmarks on the body, and see how other body parts are distributed relatively to that line. Then check if the distances and angles are the same in Your drawings.

Thanks Gildorek - I tried blind contour drawing but it was a disaster so I won't post drawings because no one would guess what I drew I will try it more tomorrow. You are also right that I have a tendency to draw too fast without paying enough attention to proportions so I will have to work more on it too.

Bella DC - thanks for the kind words I plan on painting more portraits from reference but I think I will draw just faces from Andrew Loomis for a few more days.

Today I just wanted to paint something with colours. I will definitely draw more landscapes, it's difficult but fun So, an apple study and landscapes (from refs):

Hey, sis. You're not doing as bad as You told me at all. Of course You have much to learn, but we all do. I like the last environment, and the apple. Some nice things going on there. As for the other environments, I think You might want to concentrate more on blocking in big shapes first and then moving to smaller shapes and then to details. You also have to observe colors more carefully (like, in the second environment I bet there was more than just greens and browns in the trees), but then again getting colors right is hard and requires a lot of practice.

I also have one tip for You regarding the painting of the cup from Your pevious post. First let me say that it is really nice, and I like the fact that You kept the highlights small and bright, and didn't overdo them (many people tend to put too much highlights to their paintings.. me included ). Okay, now the tip: I think this particular painting would really look A LOT better if You made those ellipses right. Observe more carefully and/or find some tutorial about how to draw circles in perspective (or in other words: study perspective ). Basically, pay more attention to shapes and edges in your paintings. I know it's hard at first, but try to make them precise and clean, and not wobbly/shaky/blurred etc (unless of course You are painting something wobbly, shaky or blurred, hehe ).

Hey Gildorek, thanks for the advice, I really appreciate all your help
As to the colors - yeah, I sometimes notice that there are different colors but I have tendency to draw what I think is supposed to be there that what really is - it's one more think I have to work on. And the perspective - I started to draw lines from horizon to draw walls correctly, I hope I will get better.
And now that you mentioned it I can see that there is something seriously wrong with this cup, especially the top farther edge.

Ok, so basically the conclusion is that I have to work on everything and draw more!

Alright your determination is inspiring. But you still need to change radically the way you're seeing things, first focus on gesture, the important here is to FEEL the gesture, remember a drawing is not well done until it show an state of mind. Later when you will have already mastered this you can proceed with structure, in which you have to consider that a contour is nothing more than an outside edge of a FORM.
In your studies I can see you're focusing too much on contours when you should be focusing on FORMS. Anyway first is first, and that is gesture.
