Hi Mr Animation
I think that working from well thought out concept drawings will give you a good foundation to sculpt from, so keep drawing lots of poses until you find the pose that you want to use.
YOu should probably move these thumbs over to your sketchbook and work on them there. That way you will get a lot more crits from the sketchbook folk
Looking forward to see what you come up with!

really nice sketch MrAnimation ....waiting for the clay version![]()
DEON - Thanx for the idea man! Yeah, im trying to be more structured and focused, rather than what im used to (acting like a dork). Ok ill start a sketchbook ASAP!
agrmrs - Thank you, not sure if I like the poses though, maybe I'll try showing off some of her power... hmmm... I will try not to disappoint you guyz.![]()
Before i start my main project, i think it might be a good idea to test out this Super Sculpey, see how much detail i can have in small objects. Gonna try to discover some cool tricks and techniques. wish me luck...
ok first the reference... some Jurassic park

I like where this is going, and I love the stepwise photos!
Joshua A.C. Newman - thnx man, haha im just folowing the masters. I made progress on it but cant post the new pictures before iv post the others (left them on the works pc)... but im still taking quick snaps as i go. but ill need to get a better camera, cant see the smaller details.
Ok here's the rest, ill post the finished one, once if found a nice camera.

This is the idea for my main project, after tons of crappy poses, iv decided to use this one. I really want to have the feel of movement and emotion come out here... looking forward to figuring out the the metal parts.![]()
Wow, and you say this is one of your firsts? *whistles*
That is a damn fine dino you got there, good sir.
ekobor - hahaha thank you dude, This clay is amazing to work with.
Hay people, just a quick update on some of the things iv been doing
WOW! As in "Holy Crap, that seriously rattled my cage" type wow! Dude that is outrageously cool. Movement, intent, weapon hardwired into her, it's all good.
And I so want that critter on the warthog. Damn but that is excellent work. For me the indication of top work is that that has everything going for it long before the paint is applied. Fact is a ivory coloured wash would work well on this. Only thing I find slightly distracting from the rider is the blade. Such an excellent piece deserves a fine weapon such as a parang, kopis, sabre or even Kukri style. :-) Cool.
Waipunga: Hay! gosh, thank you so much for the amazing complament! I have this worry about colouring them in though... the Samurai Panda i cant paint as it was given to a good friend of mine as a gift and now we stay in differant parts of south africa.
Dam, i wish i had your input before i gave him awaythat sword idea is awesome! hhehe I would also like to make the brother of the Samurai Panda with the rolls reversed, so the Warthog would be the samurai, riding the Panda.
Im scered of adding paint to the things i make, as i feal i destroy it (not to skilled with da paint im affraid) need to practice more on that. any tips?
Im working on this new pice with 2 lions fighting each other, but with this one ill be posting the production.
increible characters man! really I love them WOW congratulations
Aizkur wow thank you for the complaments! Im glad you like them![]()
This is the reff of what im gonna do next, im also gonna see if my one buddy wants to help, could be fun (but i might end up doing this solo)
Hay
Ok I made this for a bud at work, it was her birthday, havnt painted it yet, im waiting to get an air-brush.

Good stuff. Love the boar and Pyramid Head pieces.
Wow... that girl with the bad attitude and the blaster on her arm is pure, sculpting sweetness.... the dino is cute as hell, looks like a baby rapter running for his life...but the sweetest of the sweet is... the bear on the pig....that stands out the most of all to me. It has a concept appeal that touches the heart.
I don't really like to see the sculpts all painted up. I don't know why we do that. But I do it too,{how's that for irony,}, but I always am moved more by the monochromatic finish of just a solid grey, or sand color, or the beauty of the simple red clay.
I think more, and more often, that less is more, it may just be the stage of life Im in.....
So, it's ok if you don't want to paint it, {for the likes of me.}
Great job, keep'm coming.
Mah ' Crub
Deon: Thanx man great to hear from you man! any new projects on your side?
One Eyed Terror: Thank you very much
Mah ' Crub: Geee, thank you dude! i know! in alot of cases the colour makes the sculptur go from 100% to like 85%, But! one the other side, some cases it makes it go to 125% (I cant do that just yet... T_T). But I love to see it in a base colour though.... makes it more sketchy, like leaving sketch lines on an illastration. I have a few other projects and ill be shoure to post them up for you to check out.
Hay people
I'v been working on this guy for a while now he's taken me about 28 hours to make, i gave it to a frind of mine baked and painted and he has a light switch for his chest with a removable light (Yay it worked!).
I wasnt happy with the actual look of each of the the metal parts, know of any method i should have taken to make better looking armour?
the next one im making is a nined fox...
ok here are the photos of the nine tailed Demon fox progress.
nice work man
only allaha judge me
Wow these are all fantastic! Why have I not seen this thread before?! ;0)
I particularly like the manga girl with the gun - it's incredible! What did you use for teh cables? Did you sculpt them?!
The Dark Power: Hay thank you very much! I used a large bolt, rolled it the the size i want then just rolled the clay to the bolt and presto!![]()
I absolutely love ur figures!! so freaking cool! never seen like it before honestly. good work.
Cheers/ your friend PMB
