    Them muscles

So I've been trying to do a generic side/front/back type of character sheet example, but I keep getting stuck in the front and back views.
The front view seems to lack the bulkyness the sideview shows and the shoulder muscle shape seems wrong, but I can't really put my finger on it.
(I've been using horse muscle diagram as a ref thus far and if everything else fails I'll have to do a little clay dragon or something.)

All other crits also very welcome!

Animal anatomy is where I'm at my best, so if I can be helpful anywhere, it should be here . I drew up some redlines for you and will add some notes below it (besides the comments on the redlines themselves).

The first mistake you made which was easiest to pick out is it seemed like you tried to give the beast deltoids. Since it's a quadruped, it most probably won't have them or at least barely. Animals draw their front leg power from the chest and their "biceps and triceps". I don't believe they're called that on animals but I couldn't find their actual names. The upper neck muscle also flows over into the legs, it overlaps the shoulder muscle.

Your hind legs were actually pretty accurate, just a bit out of proportion and not "straight" enough. I can't explain it any better than that. Actually it's hard for me to explain anything to do with anatomy with words, because I don't know (and can't seem to find) most of the English names for the muscles, as well as some words I'll need to describe what I mean.

Do note that the redlines won't be exactly perfect either, it's always better to study actual anatomy than to study another artist's interpretation. I hope it helps a bit though .

I do love drawing dragon bums, they're so much fun!

Oh thank you so much! This'll definately get me forward with the front/back views and I'll probably re-do some parts of the sideview too, since human deltoids are a frequent pet mistake of mine (I totally blame all the Dragonlance book covers I saw as a kid). And I'll probably try to find one of the animal anatomy books from our library just for the safe measure if not for this, at least to later projects so drawing things from behind won't be such a pain in the butt
