Wow nice to see you started the sketchbook with a bang! A nice bit of variety too.
Great poses, and great detail in the faces you have done too (particularly good form in the 2 at the top). Getting good shape into the faces is something I need to work on, I tend to just stick the facial features on and shade in a cheek and the side of the nose (so not really enough haha)
Are some of these poses done on a tablet?
The storyboard is cool, though at the minute it looks like a series of individual thumbnails / locations rather than something I'm supposed to follow? (Middle-right is my fave).
This is a flying comment Si, I've jumped on a computer just because I got your notification. Btw, put your sketchbook link in your signature! I had to hunt this down.
And congrats on getting the ball rolling! I'll pressure Gaz next.
ROYZY: Hay man!!, cheers for the kind words, yeh most of the content was done with tablet using reference. The storyboard is still rather ropey, I have high hopes for a better verson soon.
Nice update, love the dude and his musket. The guy with the phone and cig is cool, though his reaching arm's elbow looks a bit odd. I think it is because of where it raises over the joint. Looks a bit like Georg and his hyperflex elbows
Oh yeah and no I haven't thought of anything for the pre-production project. I'll be sticking that stuff on here over this term too.

Good work so far, you're people studies are very well done. Keep up the good work.
Nice control of human figure drawing.
keep up the good work
Very nice environment sketches/thumbs - got the confidence of line the character lack, which is my biggest problem with the characters; with time and practice this won't be the case, but maybe trying to be bold and daring will help you get there faster (and I'm far from there myself, so). Still very nice start, and keep drawing & painting.
Dan.
& I wish I had listened to my own advice 2 years ago, and probably yesterday as well!
SB. p31 updated 25.04.2012.
Really good start to your SB mate. Love the pose sketches and the facial detail in your 1st post is excellent. Keep pushing yourself my friend!!
Cool sketchbook meng. Nice figure work, your digital stuff seems solid ...you've got me interested now... Keep it coming!
nice studies mate.Clean lines nice figures. Some rough shadow mess the forms here and there.Probably because the hatching is not so (thick?)i mean maybe make the lines closer like in some of your other works.
Great in overall.Keep going mate![]()

First of Id like to say thanks to all the kind words so far, secondly Id like to apologise for the long wait, got to manage my time better im thinking.
Ive recently got my act together and started speed painting every morning, Im really concentrating on colour theory at the moment cuz I really need the practice (all from reference)
Some female torso studies, mix of memory and reference
Some dude with a Flag
Cheers
Sweet anatomy studies, you have some very impressive and soft linework skills, with the Lizard really standing out.
The quick landscape colour renders are also looking really nice, showing strong promise. Keeping working and pushing your skills.
Excellent start to a SB.
There is some wicked speed paintings in there Si!! How long you spending on each one?
By the way, Colour Theory Streaming Class is currently 60% off I believe. The sale is back on for the minute! Since watching it, colour has become really interesting. I definitely feel I should be getting on with speed paintings too.
The flag dude's arms feel a bit awkward, I can't tell if it is to do with the jacket or proportions. Other than that he is looking pretty cool.
Were the two erotic chicks from memory/dream? You cheeky monkey.
Hi guys
Fiddzy Thanks man appreciate it, I hope to continue putting much more work up here, improving my skills, but more than that becoming more a part of this community, been abit rubbish in that area recently
Royzy Hay man, cheers for the comments, got to say havnt done any colour work in ages, so thanks for that. Yeh the dude with flag needs some major tweaks now that I look at him hope to give him colour eventually
Got some scribbles to show yeh again:
Some more speedpainting again from reference (not ready for the bad ass world of doing it from imagination)
Some silhouetted character concepts, nothing finalised
Some Female faces done from memory, need some practice in that area.
Some more doodles
cheers
Loving these environments. The stalls in that last image look wicked, nice light.
Leah was looking at your speed paintings earlier and giving it a go. Something I plan to do each morning during Easter hopefully (depending how early I have to get up for work, otherwise I'll have to do it before bed).
Nice heads, it'd be cool to see some shaded ones, to show form.
Catch ya later dude!![]()
havnt updated anything on here for awhile, been crazy days lately, heres a small update, should be making updates more often now that I have the time
doodles
more...doodles
some sketches of some characters Im developing at college, still in early stages
Oh wow, I love your sketchbook! How long have you been drawing for?
I really like your character concepts, they are so fun and lively!I also love the environments in post 19, the first one especially (the coastal scene) has a great sense of mood and lighting, well done! I have no crits, just keep on going with your great work!
Loving the colour thumbs. Nice values on the monochrome ones, also. About the pencil sketches, try to define a bit the line.
Anyway, good work! Keep it up![]()
