    Marc the Upstarts sketchbook

    Hey all,

Looking to improve whatever abilities that I already have, so I'm looking for some crits on a few of my personal sketches. Something about the color in my paintings has always felt flat to me, and I'm hoping to correct that. I hope you enjoy!

Nice work , and welcome to the sketchbook forums! If you're dissatisfied with the turning of forms (if I'm understanding you correctly?), maybe you should try doing some straight black and white value studies, and try to apply that information on values to your color work. Otherwise, the images you posted look nice to me, just keep practicing and learning!

Thanks! Yeah, I was kind of referring to my balance between lights and darks. Like this one from Vyle for example. http://www.conceptart.org/forums/sho...96&postcount=6

I realize that is a different subject matter than what I've posted, but the light just feels like... well, light. Maybe its all in my head, but I don't feel like my work can capture that yet
