Yeah your right I did use it as reference. Like I said it was just experimenting.

Having worked on my own original face this afternoon, Thought I'd delete it and post the new vsn later instead.

Your lineart looks a bit like traced in some places, it propably could need some "dirt" here and there. I suppose u have ur lineart on a seperate layer. Try to use a texture and play around with the layermodes to apply it only on the line, maybe it help.
Im curious to see more, keep pushing!

Lakai - Yeah thanks. Yes I do often clean up my drawings a little (and keep the 'line art' on a seperate layer to my original sketch).

Since the Forums last went down I've actually been VERY productive. Been doing some freelance work as well as the usual portfolio stuff.

Ok here's the latest update on this piece.

The face is influenced by and has been rendered in the style of 'Ruan Jia man' (been trying to figure out his painting style for aggess - just looks soo sweet.)

The headress/outfit etc.. is deliberately rendered in a 'bolder' more aggressive style as I thought it would help the composition.

Still not finished the lower part of this image - The preying mantis legs are giving me difficulties!

Hello!

Havnt posted in a while but have been busy working away and building up my portfolio.

Anyway's firstly this is a character from a Japanese folklore(Yokai)/Samurai piece I am working on. There will be 6-7 characters in total and may end up being the basis for my first attempt at a graphic novel.
