    Dpaints Sketchbook/updated 11/25/2011/more NSFW

Aftera couple of months here, I've finally gotten around to starting a sketchbook. I work mostly from life and my imagination and then develop ideas later on for finshed work or production art. Black and white is pencil color stuff is oils done in life drawing sessions. Mostly it is a way to keep my skills from getting too rusty.

Thanks for the compliment and thanks for asking about the paintings. All paintings are oils, all painted from life and all painted in an hour or less, alla prima. The sizes are 16x20 or 18x24 inches

Really REALLY nice stuff! Especially your paintings caught my attention. It's been a while since I saw someone paint so well using traditional media.

I love your understanding of shape and colour. I'm extremely envious of your ability to paint and how well you draw hands, I'll definitely be following your art .

Hallo Dpaint, great stuff you got going on in here. I absolutely love those jungle environment drawings, please do more of those! You got a good understanding of the human anatomy and its forms, although imo your biggest weakness is the face when it comes to placing the eyes in space. I see you're working on it and that is good, I too need to work on it a lot more then what I currently are. I can suggest you to do some self portrait studies infront of the mirror, and looking at statues if you got any of such close to you.

P.S. I saw your oil paintings, very beautiful. The vawes that had light shining through them was astonashing.

I hope you'll update soon so I can come back!

    NSFW

It has been almost a year, what a slacker I am. Here are some quick oil studies
There is a lot of experimentation going on wwith these with types of surface, paint application and color. Most are 12x16 to 16x20. the last three value studies were on an 18x24 canvas board done by wiping out with a brush or paper towel with a little mineral spirits and no paint.

Hey, dpaint, I really like your paintings and your use of color in them. For the last few paintings, how long did each generally take you?

I should check my own threads more often or hook up the email notification. The last batch of color paintings were one to two hours
