    Anastasiy's $14.00 one does support CS3; I don't know about Vorp's version though.

Nope. Painters Wheel won't work with CS3 (yet). Sorry. It's based on a different interface that only started in CS4.

Teho - I think I know what you're talking about with the popping cursor and why it's there. I'll try to make some time to fix that bug ASAP. Thanks for the heads up.

    Hiho guys.

I just tried it out with CS4 and every time I try to use it my whole PS crashes (I can open the layer but then it crashes instantly).

Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit, AMD Dualcore 5000+, 4GB Ram, Radeon X1950 XT graphics card.

    Hey Len,

Do you think you can add a little feature on your wheel?
Previewing the old/new picked color would be great.

I'm using CS5 under XP and I've got a problem.

I don't know if it is a bug but whenever I choose a color and move the pen away, the indicator of PaintersWheel moves as well, it isn't fixed at where it was as it should have been.

ps: thank you a lot for this color wheel it's really strange for Adobe not adding this in PS

tasser - that's weird. Not sure what's going on. [to everyone] Has anyone with a similar system seen the same problem?
funshark - great idea. I had the same one a while ago. Working on it. Should be an update soon. I want that functionality for my paint too!
silv - just saw the same behavior on my CS5 under Vista. I'll see what's up and get an update out ASAP.

    hey vorp!

Today I've tried it again and it still does not work. Tried the Win XP version, too, doesn't work. Hope the new version helps me out at this point, I would LOVE to use it and I don't know why adobe doesn't have this integrated since years. Thanks, Flo

I've read you fixed the problem. But that doesn't seems to be the case on the Mac computers. Or am I doing anything wrong?

Either way, it's a great addition to painting in Photoshop and I encourage everyone I know to use it. Keep up the good work!

Drat. It does not support 32 bit CS4. Are you planning to make it functional for 32 bit users? Still. Hats off to you for making this wonderful plug in and correcting what adobe should have add long ago. This is one the functions that many people want.

I'm sorry if it's not the appropriate place to post this, I happened to know that cs5 DOES have a color wheel picker. Go to Preferences and in General, pick the Hue Wheel in HUD Color Picker. Then choose eyedropper, hold down Alt + Shift + Right click (in Windows) and we've got this

However, you have to enable OpenGL Drawing to make it work

Thanks for this great resource - running fine on 64 bit Windows 7 Ultimate with Photoshop CS5 (64 bit).

The new HUD colour picker implemented by Adobe is flawed - it would be useful if we could bring it up with a single button press - instead, if using a tablet, the best we can do is bind ALT +SHIFT to a tablet button and one of your tablet buttons to right-click. Not the most user friendly way of using it.

I dod much of my work in Painter these days - I can see myself using Painterswheel a lot in PS now.

    Hi, guys!

I was searching for a really helpful color wheel that works without glitches. Adobe's one looks nice only in videos, I couldn't use it. And this one looked very promising, but I never was able to make it work neither in CS4 nor in CS5 now - it was crashing all the time - Windows 7 64, photoshop CS4 and photoshop cs5. I gave up!

So I found another one - and I can recommend it as the only one that can fulfill all my needs - it's Photoshop color wheel Magic picker by anastasiy (on the left).

It has RGB sliders and a very nice feature called "Compact mode" - so I hide everything except the wheel and draw like on a real canvas! Just my brush and color palette! I love it. Never had any problem with it

I have Win7 64 bit, and I actually bought the anastasiy version and to be really honest with you - the free one works better (if it works on your system). Sure the other has more options in regards to color picking choices, but Len's simpler and easier to open tab version is in my opinion better. Respect to both developers tho - these color wheels are awesome in photoshop.

Can't say "thank you" enough. When I had problems (the wheel crashed my photoshop instantly) Len wrote me like 5 emails and gave me testversions of the colour wheel. Got now a new OS (had Win 7 Home Premium 32bit and now i have Win 7 64bit) and from now on it works pretty good.

Thanks Len. Thanks for doing Adobe's job. Haha.
The new colour picker in CS5 is good, but it isn't nearly as good as the good ol' painters wheel.

    Best regards.

    Dear Len White.

Thank you for trying so hard to reproduce my product in a free form. Although it supposed to undercut my business and what I do to improve the quality of tools for the community of digital artists, it greatly enhances my promotion and frees up time for me to implement new features and improve performance.

    Keep up the good work!

I'm the author of the Photoshop color wheel called MagicPicker and other extension panels, such as MixColors, Photoshop color mixer and font viewer for Adobe Creative Suite for digital artists and designers.

I think the guys who really need it and are working for good payment will pay Anastasiy's product.

Len does this all for free and some guys are happy with it, because they just needed something better for changing colors. If I had the money, I'd buy the MagicPicker. But I am a student and over the whole month I just got about 40 dollars, with which I have to get some beers, Burger King, Metal Festivals and concerts. If I had more money I would buy it directly.

In my opinion it's a difficult situation but Len never had any bad purpose, I am sure about that.

    Greets,
    Flo

anastasiy - besides the fact that they are both color wheels for Photoshop, len's work is completely independent from and has nothing even REMOOOOOOOOTELY to do with yours. i should know, having consulted on it for him. please don't flame and try to start controversy where there is none. if you have a legitimate critique of len's program or some specific crash or bug that can be worked on, or if you have some way that you can help len create a better product, by all means, please share it here. if not, you're more than welcome to start your own thread of how MagicPicker is the greatest thing since sliced bread, and is MIIIIIIIILES better than Painter's Wheel. here in len's thread, however, is not the place to do it, and it will not be tolerated. thank you for your understanding and cooperation, and i hope you have a nice day.
