    Vorp,

I've always been an AVID Painter lover because of the color wheel they use. And here's one for Photoshop.

    Well, three.

The third one's the best, honestly. I installed each one as I read through the thread and each one worked on my computer 100%. No noticeable glitches at all on my CS4 Windows 7 64 Bit. I didn't even have to restart the plug-in each time I opened PS, the graphic just changed within the PaintersWheel box, working from open(Everyone- if you have put a previous version in you MUST delete that before you start PS again with a newer one).

Hell yeah man. thank you so much.

EDIT: HAHAHA. And now I've got some readily accessible gray scale values. Nice.

Just ran into this thread and I've tested all the versions of the tool. I especially love the dynamic swatch feature in the latest DEV version. I'm having so much fun just playing with colour now that they're easy and intuitive to pick. I loved Painter for the colour wheel feature but I couldn't live with the clunky UI and lack of features in comparison to Photoshop.

All the previous versions had annoying bugs which seem to have been fixed in the DEV version. I hope you keep the updates and fixes coming and possibly update the front page of the site. I'll be checking back here. One suggestion, though, is that you keep the UI compact and simple. Less is more.

edit: One bug persists. Select colour #e3e162 in the photoshop colour picker. Grab the Painterswheel colour picker in the triangle and drag it down slowly. The colour preview jumps abruptly to a darker tone. This makes it impossible to pick a few tones between the jump. The bug is on all hues and around the same area of the triangle. Easily visible if you drag around a little. Hope to get this fixed soon.

OK, first of all.... Thank You so much for this!

I've been using Photoshop CS5 x64 on my Tablet PC, with the "PaintersWheel_v1.1_CS5" version (is that the version I'm supposed to be using?) and this is the trouble I'm running into, the colors I choose are way off, the hue in the little side triangle is quite a bit different than that of the Photoshop square (the Photoshop square is the same as what is painted)

I couldn't get the photo to show up here from Flicker so I posted the link http://flic.kr/p/8CUfQX The first color is what was painted, then I took a screen shot of it and imported it to Photoshop to edit it, the second color is eye dropped from Photoshop's color square, and the third square is what was eye dropped from the "Painter's wheel" triangle. If that makes sense, what should I do, is it an error on my part or with the painter's wheel?

Thanks again, besides this it's perfect!!!

    hey, Agent 9!
i had the similar problems, but with the other plugin of this kind - about a half of the year ago...it was Anastasiy's color wheel panel... there are two sources of your issue... one is the calibration of your monitor, so when you're making a screenshot, your colors are being distorted, and the other is the color calibration of the picker plugin...

i was able to manage the color calibration of my monitor myself and in the latest version of the Anastasiy's color wheel he fixed the problem with the color calibration of his panel...

first you can try to calibrate your monitor and if doesn't help - try Anastasiy's photoshop color wheel panel http://anastasiy.com/panels - it does a perfect color job for me - and especially when printing i'm having precise colors

Yea, I really can't be buying that color wheel (I don't and probably won't get a pay pal account. I really don't trust linking my bank account or credit card to it...maybe I'm old fashioned)

I've been trying to calibrate my main display (HP Tm2 Tablet PC) I have a second display (out of the VGA) which seems entirely calibrated and the color wheel is absolutely perfect on that. I've tried the Spyder 3 and it sucked, I'm thinking about buying the Pantone Pro when I return my Spyder 3

Does anyone have a recommendation of a specific screen calibrator (more so one that works well for a Tablet PC)

I'm not sure what I did but it is now about 98% accurate (even on my Tablet's screen, so Thanks again to "vorp" for this great piece of software.

Awesome awesome plugin. But I can't figure out how to save any colors to the palette save spots at the bottom? Anyone have an idea?

The color swatches below the wheel are actually a dynamic color range.
You pick a foreground and background then send them down there with the little arrow button near the top right of the swatches.
It will create a range between those color automatically.
Then you can increase or decrease the number of steps dynamically with +/-.
Color saving is still handled by Adobe's built-in swatch palette.
    Hope that helps.

This is a great extension. I had plans to make their own exactly the same at the end.I would ask a small group shows the selected color box. You can quickly select foreground and background. I want to put in your forum, but I really like all the time of registration.

Most everyone use the sliders or mix directly on the canvas. As far as digital Art is concerned, a mixing pallette in Photoshop seems to me to be a necessity.

This is a question more than a request but if you ever feel compelled to create one, I'm sure you'll make a lot of peeps happy, while waiting for Adobe to do it in Photoshop CS10, or 11, or...
Hey Vorp you are fucking genius, this works perfect then last version(no lag, i like swatches idea). Just beautiful
Also i would like to quote SouMeng and bump this idea coz i think it would be cool if you have time and will to try to create something like mixing pallete

    Anyway thanks once again

A couple things of note - Is it possible to make the Wheel update more often? It's very sporadic right now and when you hold the mouse down it doesn't smoothly follow the mouse. (If I open the SWF it moves very fast, but it seems to lag in PS)

Also, is it possible for us to create the on/off image states of the panel icon? I'm a stickler for design, and it varies a bit much on PSCS5.

Small issues, I appreciate the work you put into this!

Hey guys. Like I said before: Vorp, think about to make it open source OR open a new thread here and search for developers for it. But only if YOU want, and if it is not a problem when other guys are helping. That would be awesome.

I totally love the wheel since I got it. It's a little slow when I click on it. It's a "slow follower" - the original one in painter works perfectly smooth.

I love it, I use it and I will use it all the time.

    Greetings,
    Flo

why Adobe didn't create color wheel for PS until new idea of color wheel is free download on the internet for everyone using it. It look like Painter's color wheel is first design earlier before color wheel for PS later. Maybe PS CS5 already has a new design of color wheel so look forward to check in if it has or not. If it is not there, get it for free to add to new PS CS5.

    Thanks for the alert.
Yes, I can confirm, since I updated the wheel to v1.1 with the SwatchBar(TM) at the bottom, it's broken in CS5! Yikes! I know what the problem is, though, and it should be ready to go by the end of the weekend. I'll post here when there's an update.

    -Len (vorp)

PS: No, I don't have a trademark on SwatchBar...

Tested the anastasiy version, absolutely love it. I can't for my life understand why Adobe never thought to incorporate such an easy to use color picker. It makes the whole painting process so much more simple and natural.

I got it installed and after opening the thing once or twice, I went to open it again and it crashed Photoshop. Not a big proponent of things that lower program stability, so I removed it. Seemed like a good idea though.
