Would like advice before I add more

The scene is a small river in Italy with some boats floating on the river. I am new to speed painting and so far I pretty much just have some colors blocked out on the painting. I'd like to know where I should go from here and what I could do to make sure it turns out as a nice speed painting.

I think the next thing to do is fix your perspective. Based on the balconies, the water is flowing steeply downwards, which I don't think is your intent.

Thanks for the reply, it shouldn't look that way once it's done because of when I add the stuff in the far far back.

Any one have any other tips on how I should go about finishing, possibly telling me some tips and steps because I am just starting up.

Also, I like how the members of this forum are pretty helpful.

I don't think that adding anything to the back will fix the perspective. You have buildings leaning every which way, doors going every angle, and basically everything is incoherent with each other. Before you go any further I would redo the perspective completely.

I've worked on it a little bit more. I'm pretty stumped on what to add to the buildings but I've tried to fix some things.



Putting perspective aside, what else should I do to make this look more like a painting? Please give me some tips.

Strong paintings need strong value plans, this one is very fractured at the moment. You need to have a clear sense of where the light is coming from and al the elements need to reflect that fact. Of course to do that you will need correct perspective for the light and shadows.
