    STOP... Scannertime.

Right. I've been lurking for a while now, and I figure I'd get a lot better at drawing if I actually, you know... drew some stuff.

Anyhoo, just a couple of bits to start things off. A sketchy study of Watts' The All Pervading - pencil and paper plus some GIMPery, and one of Droost Cornelis Droochsloot's (what a name!) Villiage Street. Plus some Bridgman, posemaniacs 1min sketches, random stuff.

Edit: Broke the images in this post so I could update the thumb. See next post.

    Ah that baby.
Looking good in here. After studying anatomy I think you should study faces. You need some work in that are.
You seem to be quite hard working though, so I think you'll be fine.

A few CGTalk DSF's - Themes were: The Architect, Neverland vs Wonderland, and the Red Queen. The first was reffed, rest were from imagination.

A couple of sketchbook pages and a couple more CGTalk DSFs. Kinda weird that GIMP isn't one of the options for the metadata when uploading, there's so many other options.

Had a play with the sketch from the other day as I quite liked it. A couple more sketchbook pages as well. I really suck at muscley characters - the construction feels really quite different in the way things wedge together.

...I need to draw more, that's what it boils down to of course!

EDIT: Grr. Cant seem to get images to attach correctly. Apologies if this post has duplicates or other weird crap going on. I decided just to go for imageshack this time around.

Weird. Wouldn't usually be so needy as to bump my thread, but it seems to have vanished from the forum and I'm just hoping I can bring it back!

Edit: Phew that was weird. I'll put some old sketchbook pagees in here to make up for it.

Some quick figures and a portrait done in MyPaint. Reffed. Plus a couple of un-reffed figures. Slowly getting better at them thanks to the studies.

Very nice batch of work, great to see you studying from the Old Masters as well, you can definitely learn a lot from them. As for critiques, I'd say work more in greyscale so you can focus a bit more on values, since that seems to be a weak point for you right now. Keep it up!

Hi Benjy, nice start on your SB.
I have only one suggestion for you. Always think about the head as 3d object in space. It's a rounded form.
I think this could help you a lot http://www.conceptart.org/forums/showthread.php?t=14119
    Keep up the good work!

@cgaddict. Thanks. Values are definitely a weak point at the moment, will work on them more.

@Ivan Turcin Thanks! That tutorial was great, spent today working through the first two from some similar refs. Really helpful. I still need to work on my rendering though, and the proportions are a little iffy too:

Got the new wacom today and boy is it fun to use (that is once I battled ubuntu for a few hours to get the config tools working so I could fix the aspect ration). Anyway to celebrate I coloured one of yesterdays sketches and now I ... really don't like it.

It just looks really weird and jarring and I don't know why. Maybe it's totally obvious and I've just been staring at it too long. I don't mind my stuff looking like crap if I can figure out why and at least learn from it, but this is bugging the hell out of me.

    Thoughts?

brushwork is good . The eye are a little too big and aren't aligned . skull shape on the top is not respected. keep on drawing and have fun!

your doing good in the figures and studies department. but i think you have to focus on faces a bit since they're your weak point. really observe how the eyes and features look
