pretty sure I'm the only one on my team![]()
great lights, and rendering!!!!
don't give up mate, if you are the only active sketchmachine in your team, i say this power and style is enough for a whole team, so go ahead> and i think your also extremly skilled teammates will come back to a BIG FINISHING, couse this deadline must be a time-bomb in a real chowncepter's heart and faith!!!
Thanks for the comments and suggestions folks.

Patience is a great virtue Ionic
If you have any doubt just send me an Email(im there more often than here)
I have posted quite a bit of concepts the past days but im really bad for painting, wich makes the progress quite slow.
I don't know about Dark Eyes, in his lastest post he comment about computer problems, so maybe he couldn't solve that yet?
Anyway,great work.
The format is proportional to the specific size of the brief, right?

Ok, here is a progress on the start, and a frame test.Nothing fancy, just a rough to see what can we do.Im more inclined to a simple graphical frame. It could be also no frame at all, and just the name of the card.

I think all of your stuff is looking great. I also agree that your team doesn't need a frame for the cards. A simple area for the name would be more than enough. My team is going absolutely bonkers with the frame, so your cards will be easy on the eyes in that respect.
All of your ps skills are amazing!
Thanks Janos for the suggestion. The frame thing is quite complicated, is good idea to keep it simple i think. But we will see.At the moment the important thing is to finish the cards characters.

Progress on the Star and the Queen of wand.
I wanted a more dark enviroment for the Star and a more bright one for the Queen, still the colours are pretty chaotic.

Level 8 Gladiator: Thracian
abandoned my old idea... color calibrator is lost in the mail or something, so i'm still stuck in black and white land... I will be working on this project about 10 hrs a day from here to final... I'm sorry if i'm letting you down with my output so far... I spend most of my day doing studies just to find out how it is you guys do so such amazing stuff...Admittedly, my confidence is lacking as of late, and this holds me back from posting. I'm sorry, this means a lot to me, and i feel like i'm at the breaking point lately, I don't want to let you guys down...
Ionic: I value your opinions...
My new idea so far
Level 8 Gladiator: Thracian
Still a lot to do here... good news is my color calibrator is in the mail (credit card blocked for security purposes, all cleared up now) so i will be able to go color for final... It is a real honor to watch you guys work, I'm sorry if i've been a bit of a chicken... you guys are really good!.. can be a bit intimidating... I will probably post every day from here on out... Excellent work guys!
O and if i have time i want to add some kind of a border to mine, depending on how the second one goes...
Great work Ionic.
Dark Eyes, don't worry about your output, just enjoy the contest and work with passion and joy.No matter what would be the result of our work we are in the same boat, the important thing is the ride not the end(in my opinion).Besides everyone feels down from time to time, and everyone wants to improve in their work.Just keep drawing. From this kind of situation is where one always learn.
Sorry for the preach.
Good idea and work on the High priestess.I like the direction your going.
You have choose quite a difficult pose and perspective for that concept.
I have a couple of suggestion, but since my english is not really fluid i made a couple of sketches:
My sketches are not quite correct but the main thing i wanted to show was the overlapping of the form.Hope it can help.Take it just as graint of salt.Perspective is not something i have a great experience.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ok a bit of progress on the Queen.
We have at least 10 days to the end of the contest(1st of february?)
Cheers
Veeery good thread. With many many nicely painted nice ladies. I like this!
Level 8 Gladiator: Thracian
Dimagyan: Thanks for the sketches. You pretty much read my mind. It was the figure in perspective that drove me crazy.. when I can't get something out of my head I get sucked into study mode, and I can lose track of the fun.. I'm dropping in a new perspective grid and will play with it a bit more (something in the hips to far forward and the legs are too long?). I like the colors for the queen of wands, I'd love to see the purples and blues carry into the skin tones, Dark- complexioned people have such beautifully reflective skin![]()
Level 8 Gladiator: Thracian
figures are weird, hands are weird, weird is weird... making something in illustrator for the screen.. gonna be a tight squeeze for the second card, but i have all week, will try to pin this one down tomorrow
Good work Dark Eyes. The torso looks better. There is a couple of things that can be better as you pointed out on your previous post, but you are working on that so just keep it up.
Thanks for the suggestion, you are right about the reflections.I should check some references to have a better idea.I would keep that in mind.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Some progress on both cards.Still a lot of work to do.
We have until sunday if i am correct.(31 jan)
Cheers
Level 8 Gladiator: Thracian
Hey Dimagyan, looking good.. It's gonna be a mad dash to finish the second one but it's the only thing i'm doing between now and sunday.. This one still has innumerable things wrong with it, but for time's sake, i'm going to move on, and hopefully come back to finish odds and ends. It's not a strong piece, and it was born from a bad place i think.. but live and learn i guess...
Nice work Dark Eyes! i like the colours.
-----------------------------------------------
Some work on the queen.Still a lot to do on both cards.
Deadline is 31st midnight, wich means tomorrow(or it would be today after 23:59?)
In any case we are really close. How's going the progress on your cards Dark and Ionic?
Cheers
Very nice designs here guys. Hope to see you in the poll![]()
ya really good stuff here
Level 8 Gladiator: Thracian
Great job Dimagyan! I'm wrapping my piece up, need a few hours sleep, then it's back to work.. should get a laugh or two... (i'm assuming they meant 12:00 am Jan. 1st,.. hopefully! If so, i should have it done in time.)
Cheers!
Level 8 Gladiator: Thracian
Dimagyan: Well done friend! I really appreciate all the feed back, and encouragement.. you are a great teammate!
Here are mine, i hope the titles aren't too distracting, i tried to make them subtle..
Cheers!
Level 8 Gladiator: Thracian
Ionic: If you're out there, they're allowing a few extra days if you need them to finish, but we will miss any votes from those days in the poll, so if you want to contribute just let me know and i'll add your entries to the thread.
Otherwise Dimagyan, we can make touch-ups , in hopes that Ionic will come through, and they will then add us to poll...

Great work Dark Eyes and thanks for the titles and sumbission on the final burning thread.
If we need some time to allow Ionic post his cards there is not problem for me.And if you want to refine a bit more your cards is ok too.I don't know if i will work more time on mines, at this moment im a bit tired to look at those, i will probably let them rest and take a look later on.In any case if we enter on the poll later we will not have votes wich it is fair for those who made it on time.
In any case it was a fun experience and a lerning month too.So thanks both of you for your work. And thanks a lot to you Dark Eyes for your input to the team work, references, ideas and final presentation.
Cheers!
