The inevitable death of one thousand pencils

Hello everyone, my name is Mitch Kempt, pleased to meet you, thank you for visiting.

Through apparently unavoidable circumstance, I was first brought into existence on a date I from then on have referred to as Day 0 - Year 1, The Awakening, or in your terms, November 13 2009, the earliest time I can recall from memory.

This was the day I began drawing, attempting to find my own voice, and reason for existence, with a goal to some day continue through to painting, as a means to determine why I was called here and needed in the first place. Through this sketchbook I will chronicle my artistic pursuits in this world, as I attempt to find the answer to these questions.

I hope you all can help me as I journey along, not only to keep me motivated, but to aid in my quest but helping me improve, and get closer to finding why I am here...

    And so it begins....

    Mannequin

Attempting to understand the forms of you humans:
With one last one using water soluble pencils, a medium I like as it requires significant patience, which I currently lack.

    Gestures

Some attempts at gesture drawings from Posemaniacs, I simply am not yet quick enough. 90 seconds each, and I still barely get the head done in some cases, must persevere. And a little bit from Bridgman's.

    Perspective

My attempts at studying perspective. 1 and 2 point seem okay, however 3 point confuses me, I'm just not sure about it.

Any suggestions on how to understand it?

    The human face

    The final frontier.

I've been watching The Structure of Man DVDs, and therefore beginning all these drawings with the construction of the skull first, and then going into features. They are all from reference (although do not end up looking very close to it). Enjoyable none the less. I have absolutely no idea how to begin rendering hair...

    Any ideas?

    Imagination

The usual routine stuff today that I shall not post as it happens every day right now, woo holidays.

Other than the norm I tried working from imagination, and from it have determined that I need to work on heads, eyes, noses, mouths, ears, hair, cloth, animals, household items, 8-bit clouds, basically everything.

    Never mind, onward!

The still lifes are well done, to make them better you should add more contrast in the darker shadows. More like your mannikin studies.
