    Icon The Art of Serpentwitch

    Heya guys! I'm new here and still learning about how things work here

    I'm Serpentwitch, 24 years old Indonesian. I work as a 2D animator, and a freelance illustrator on the free time. I'm also a comicus or mangaka. Previously I work together with an American and published a comic titled 'Spirit Armageddon' there. It's indie and still new so I doubt any of you would heard of it though.

    I'm still trying to develop my art, and seeing the awesome works here, I realized that I lacks unique style. What I've been doing is just paint semirealistic stuffs and lately I think its too plain ordinary. I need to develop my own style and I hope to find the key to it here

    I think I'll start with thumbnail first, artworks coming in soon

    cool stuff, I like the energy in all of these pieces, especially the 2nd and last fight scenes. One thing that you might want to watch out for is the perspective. In some of these paintings the perspective looks off & is difficult to read.

    IncoCG Challenge 5 : Massive War

    @Soundpath :
    Yea I still have problems with perspective. Every now and then I'll try to do different hard angles, which I later regret because of the perspective problems that follows Thx for reminding me. Guess that is one of my homework to do.

    Ok, here's another one. I did this about 1-2 months ago for the IndoCG 5th Challenge. These are the steps i did, with the last one jumps pretty far. I actually intend to do with the 2nd before the last, but then it looks suck and there's still plenty of time so I remade most of the scenery and mood, and especially the front guy become much more realistic.

    The problem is he became TOO realistic which ruin the harmony with the characters behind him. I added splashes of water (red water because its full of blood and fire) to cover it.

    You've got some good stuff going on here. I like your poses and some of your characters, even if some of the scenes are too macho for me, hah. You put a lot of effort into your coloring and it shows. Your not bad with digital but you need to put more tone, contrast, and different hues into you skin tones. They look much too pink/ grey. Also, are you blurring the blending as the last step? It looks a bit like it, out of focus and soft. Try finish off your painting with a few strokes from a hard edged brush to bring it more into focus. (in the last two images in post 6)

    Btw, those jeans look great!

    Keep working and keep posting! Rah rah rah!!

    Heroko, and a sketch for style learning

    @Mokhi,

    Heya, thanks a lot for the critique and comment! Really appreciate it.

    So, more tone, contrast, and hue right? Yea, I'm still not confident playing with much color. I mostly play safe and use soft colors, and only combine limited amount of color. Blurring things out is also me not too confident with hard strokes. I'll try to experiment more with contrast colors later.

    And here's Heroko, a guy which is one of the main characters in my comic titled Spirit Armageddon. Requested for a magnet and other bonus items.

    and also a sketch of - I dunno who this is. I'll just call it the prisoner heh. As I state on my first post, I'm trying to develop some unique style. And I still think this is still too plain ordinary... I'll try some weirder and distorted character next. Any guidance is most apreciated.

    EDIT : sorry, internet down. I'll the post the prisoner sketch soon

    Celadoron MK II

    @Pega : Weks, it's you again ahahaha.

    Ehm, just got some serious feedback on other forum. And now I'm trying to be braver with colors. I experiment again with my previous monster and apply some stronger color combinations. And here he is... new and improved Celadoron MK II !!

    I really hope I have improved even a little... CnC are very needed.
