some Loomis hands
resized warmup sketches and a nature rough
woke up early.. warm up poses of today.
today I tried something different for my poses..hard to get the proportions right without construction!
knots
knots 2
I did this instead of the daily poses..almost forgot to re-upload..mweh again errors in its size etc..change it tomorrow..tired.
Nice! your improving fast! One word of advice is to draw looser. Using line of action and doing life drawing will really help to loosen up.
Thanks BobMeatbag! I can't draw looser right now because there is no tip from my pen left, I constantly have to keep it perpendicular to the tablet which makes it really hard..I guess next week or so I will get a new one! But I will try to make more use of the action lines for drawing poses from life/reference..

poses, this time with the action line. I used to apply it all the time when drawing from imagination but from reference I didn't even think about it!

Better, the drawings are already a bit looser. Here's some more stuff to help with lines of action: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xmiwGm32dXU

Thanks, I'll check it out!
I haven't been uploading last week because my tablet pen just doesn't work anymore..I did a lot in my sketchbook though! massive dump after new year I guess!
This morning I tried once more but gave up already.
2011 was a good year for me, I actually learned to draw a bit! Next year I'm pushing much harder!
Well, Merry x-mas everyone, Happy new year..back in 2012 !
Hello Gibi, thanks for the visit.
I like the barque drawings and the head variation page.
What do you mean by the stylus not working, is it the nibs being worn out?
merry xmas!
Yes there was nothing left of it and I used a graphire4 but Santa has been really generous and now I have a new bamboo And a scanner so no more excuses for not uploading!
trying out new tabletI notice I'm not used to the pens reaction yet.. ah well.

warm up of today
Good to see that you are updating regularly and working really hard! Nothing to crit here, just keep pushing those studies!
I really like the waterfall piece and the warmup poses you did on posts #122 and 123 by the way. Happy new year!
Yeah it sucks at first trying to draw on a tablet but you are staying nice and loose with your linework.
keep it up!!
Satupeikko: Thank you, I sure will keep one going! I actually loved the curve in the walking woman from that page myselfHappy new year!
Lumens: Yeah I'm starting to get used to this one now, but I also switched from mac to pc so I keep on pressing the wrong buttons, lol. Thanks!
poses of sitting people
awesome work! love the studies, keep at it!
Last bit of pages from 2011 I liked, 30 sec stuff excluded.
Don't know how to get clean scans yet.
The First one I did outside. The second I did watching people from my window. The portraits and poses are from pictures.

nice gestures! Glad to see the improvement. I'd suggest to start drawing with shapes now. Look for basic stuff like squares, cones etc etc then move onto more complicated shapes, such as beans, ovals, muxtures of any shapes etc etc. Don't just draw the line of the figure. Drawing the shape will bring out appeal and help with anatomy, rythme and straight against curves. All of which increases appeal
hey Bobmeatbag, I really appreciate your feedback! But are you talking about constructing the body out of basic shapes or looking for the shapes like triangles to measure distance in negative space? well anyway I'm aware of both so I´m trying to let go for a while of the clothing and further details of my reference. Just doing the gestures!

For construction, to measure negative space and to see in 3d, I use shapes like rectangles, boxes and sometimes circles. Using simple blocky shapes forces you to not only see in 3 dimensions, it also adds perspective to the mix if you allow it.
Using more rounded and organic shapes or mixtures of shapes allows appeal.
Hope this helps!
Thanks again! I'll keep on experimenting with it!
