quality stuff dude! browsing through some of your pages and i see you dabble a lot in varying mediums-- that's great! good to see some experimentations... :3

one thing that i'd like to suggest is that perhaps in some of your still life studies you can push the darker values even more-- you seem to understand mid-tones and light/highlights-- but to create more sense of form the darks need to be darker!

good stuff all around. keep studying!! i have to do some hardcore studies as well~

Teap- thanks, ye I like to experiment. I often comes back to charcoal cause I like it the most but all mediums are worth a shot and gives you new ideas. Yea those darks are always scary, read your comment and I really tried to make the dark really dark on this last one I hope it shows.

last pair of sunglasses for now, 5.5 hour work with mechanical pencil 2mm hb, a 0.5mm 2b and stopmpher. This is still life work and I have a headache now when its done haha because I forogt to eat and drink while I drew this. Need some rest so will not write more than this. oh btw. The main quest was to try and get those reflections in the glass, reflections are from shelfs, sunlight on the wall, those two round are the lamp and then some reflections are from the fabric it lays upon.

note to self - still life is fun and you learn alot, mostly to see, where is it darkest, where comes the light in and so on. Very good study will do more but with other objects.

I can't offer any critiques on that, it's fantastic. Maybe an occlusion shadow would have worked...like, the darkest shadows happen where forms meet other forms. So where the sunglasses touch the ground, it would probably be a little bit darker underneath. I'm not sure, maybe your lighting set up didn't have that in it.

Keep it up....you're going to make it to the top in no time man. Just keep practicing hard. Blood, sweat, and tears for the both of us! Cheers!

I did go a lot darker this time though with my darkest parts Blood, sweat and tears bro!

this is some critique from myself and from my brother. I have used fixative so I cant change it now but I wanted to upload this so I can look back and remember what I need to do better. You can always do better, need to push myself to the limit.

Note to self - charcoal seems to be what I am best at, also this is what I like the most.

I really need to learn how to sketch faces. I am watching a movie, pausing and sketching as many faces that I can find. I know they look horrible but I need to practice on this and wanna show u guys im working.

How to simplify a face is hard. I am using 10-60 sec on each face. will try use some other pens.

I am still around. been working on a massive project. Have been using around 3000 beads to build a famous building and this has taken around 25 hours to complete. will show u tomorrow I believe so stay tuned. Soon I will have three weeks of time to just practice on one thing, thinking portraits with water colors or ink maybe peace out

TV sketches huh? I should try that. It's like gesture drawing but with only the head! BRILLIANT! and yeah, you're right about the blending thing. I need to start getting used to that and get away from some of the more scratchy lines I've been producing while shading.

and I just want to thank you, man. You've been there with me since the beginning of my art, and it'll only get better as we both to continue to grow together. So here's a cheer to us! And your awesome progress!

Awesome sketchbook dude! I love the hand studies in the last few pages. I like the idea that you have with the sunglasses, but I would like to suggest that you do more studies of simpler objects in perspective. Specifically cylindrical objects like cups, bottles, jars, vases and such can really help you think about what you're drawing in 3 dimensions. Follow the form of the object and try to understand how the object exists in space. They don't have to be long and tedious; they can be smaller, quicker studies where you focus more on the general shapes and less on the details. But I think those can really help you on more complex forms when you imagine them as simple polygonal shapes strung together. Keep up the good work!

Allright here is my tower haha. 25 hours work later. I will tell you this to begin with. This is not art, this is a study and a test of my patience. I also wanted to try using something I havnt used before and to see how far I could go using beads. This building has no feeling or though behind it, this is in my opinion not art because of these criterias.

Even though I am pleased with the result, I was angry alot of times but I kept going all weekend. I grow when I do these things, I see that I can manage to go all the way to the final result that I had in mind to begin with. This was a big wakeup call for me, I can do so much more than I believe.

btw. I am doing a still life painting in school with acrylics, will show u tomorrow the progress. Acrylic is hard and dries very fast but still kind of fun. Though I like water colors more right now. But it is good to try new things

allright this still life painting is almost finished. I only had a day and a half in school to work with it so need to keep on going with my other assignments. But I will get back to work and just make some small adjustments and details.

This is my first serious acrylic painting. I think acrylic is kind of fun actually, will do another tomorrow but that will not be still life. Thinking a portrait maybe or a scary alley.

I had a hard time with the angles of the train carts and the perspective of them. I didnt nail it I know but this was as good as I could make it in this time. But this really learned me to look for angles which is so important when painting. I learned how to blend colors together better and that some colors in real life are not only what they look like. I also learned that shadows are not black. In this painting I havnt used black, the darker areas are dark blue and brown blended mostly.

allright. the first pics are some studies before I started, I also sketched up a bit more detailed on the canvas but I didnt take a photo of that. I also wanted to show u how my still life setup looked like.

I Wanted to have a feeling of an old shoemakers house. Almost everything is made of wood and iron, plastic was not yet invented. The father tries to sell shoes to afford food and shelter for the rest of the family. It is November. The mother is smoking, looking out at the cold night through the window. The children are sleeping. They had left some toys at the table where their father has his work tools. If the father will have a few hours of sleep the day has been good and hopefully; tomorrow he will make some money so they can afford bread.

Allright guys. I have a 3 week project were I will try to get better at painting portraits with water colors, a hard and kind of an odd combination but I think it will be fun. I started yesterday.

the first one was a quick face I did without any sketches, like a watercolor sketch. the second I did a quick sketch with charcoal first, around 20 min total. will try to do like 100 of these so hopefully I will get better at drawing faces and coloring them.

now I will try to sketch something totally from memory, will try to do this more often because I really suck at it and never does it.

note to self - do less fat faces, they are often more narrow than u think. go for more values with ur coloring and for darker colors.

yesterdays portrait, a girl from pulp fiction. hoping I am going forward, in three weeks I want to have done a really nice looking water color portrait.

Tried to go for darker values, still need to push em more. hard with watercolors though. enjoy. today I will try a totally different approach on a portrait. stay tuned
