    failed value study

    Naidy- thanks, yes I am.
glad u think so, been doing them quite alot. But sooo much more to learn.
thats the fun with art, you will never be done, there is always more to do

Parsa- thanks for coming by. I think you are very right. I will start immediately with some envori studies. thanks, I really needed to hear that. cheers

Alright this one looks horrible, mostly cause of her face I hate doing faces. thought the body was kind of good. value study with charcoal. But as I hate them I need to do them more.

I will share even stuff like this that I think is really awful, but I learn from it

any tips about the face? it looks really freaky.

yesterdays batch from the croqie session

had as last weekend a 3 hour croquie session. This time the model was a guy which was great cause I havnt drawn men that much and I havnt ever drawn a male model.

He did a lot of longer pooses and some shorter, the longest was 18 min and the shortest was 1 min.

at first it didnt go that well but with time it got better. I really felt that I learned alot this day. He helped me out with technique and what pens I could use and such, a good guy.

the time from the pose is written on each. hope u see improvement.

    cheers friends

    Hey bro

The life drawing is good, you need to keep doing that. I haven't been lately myself, need to get back into it.. asdjaslkdjaslkdj. =)

Mmm, for the moment, try simplifying what you are seeing from life. Heads are eggs, chests are barrels, pelvises are boxes, legs and arms are cylinders, that kind of thing.

Keep up the good work and have a fantastic week! =)

Qlotzan- thanks m8 glad u dropped by!

Kung- thanks, I feel like I really learn from them, will keep doing them, as it looks now I have 4.5 hour every week you should try and go ur self!
Thats a good tip, having a hard time doing them simple studies but I know I should. will try that. cheers

reading in a book about muscles and bones, trying to redraw them of my own and write down a few words about them. sorry cause it is in Swedish so most of u cant read it.

Think it is good to have some knowlage of where things are and how they are connected to the rest.

Do you take a figure drawing class or something? It'll be two more semesters for me, because my college requires that you take Drawing I and II before it .

    life nude studies

Deadly- To bad u cant go at them right now, but it will be worth the wait. Yes I do. we have one every wednesday that is free for all the students. then we have one every saturday at another school that cost alittle but its totally worth it. It really makes u improve.

I finally bought some A3 papers to use on my croquie sessions. But they dont fit in the scanner so the pics will be a bit blurrier because I have to take photos with the camera. I really need ro start drawing bigger when doing these poses and thats why I got larger papers.

the first 4 pics are from wednesdays session and the rest is from this saturday.
this saturday felt very good, I think my nude model drawings are getting better and better. Also starting to break down the barrier about being afraid of drawing feet and hands. They are really hard but I have started to draw them out evern if they look bad, think this is a good step forward.

yea...and I tried out oil for the first time today. will show u in a min

    thanks for ur support

    my first try at oils

I tried out oils for the first time in my life today. I have been working 5 hours today at this very first piece. I made a charcoal sketch first from one of the poses which I did last saturday and then I just played around. I know the proportions maybe aint perfect but that wasnt the main quest here. I just wanted to try out oils and play around with them to get the feeling on how to use them. Still I think it looks kind of good, the leg to us and the arm have some serious foreshortening which is very hard to nail imo.

Had to let it be for today cause it needs to try. then I will lay down a second layer of color at some places and draw some more with a charcoal pencil over it, especially the hands and the feet. need to do something with the head and the eye but dont know what really. will make the "fire staf" look even more hot, wild and mostly bright.

I think oil colors are very fun to paint with even though they are hard too. keep on dropping in for the continue in this one.

    thanks all

Hey PMB. I think you should draw architecture today, or man-made environments. I'm sure it's out of your comfort zone, just like mine. I think I might do some imaginative drawing today (with a bit of reference) in attempt to create some concept ideas. But the next 3 days after today, I'm going to bull through some manmade stuff (because it really annoys me).

Also, I'll PM you some pretty useful stuff....at least for concept art that I've found recently.

great work in this thread so far, you are really working hard and scanning it all! One crit would be look at the angles of limbs in life drawing. Think"what angle is that" then draw in a straight line and let it continue a little past the limb. These lines will build up while you draw and allow you to see mistakes more easily! If you don't know what I mean pm me and I'll do a little paintover for you

    good luck

Bethany- thanks I have been going to live nude model sessions but Ive missed a few now but will attempt one on saturday.

Thomas- thanks, I wanna show u guys most of the stuf I do Sounds smart, thanks for the tip m8!

having a little rough time right now with personal things in my life so the drawing section has gone away alittle. Trying to get back but Im having a hard time consentrating but I will try.

first two pics are both an update of my oil experiment and the other is just some playing with oil, colors and concept
the third one is all done with a black marker pen and is from the comic- the walking dead.
the last one is a quick attempt of a church sketch. need to try draw more buildings!!

I really like the style in comics, graphic novels and I like the black and white, extreme shadow/lightning relationship

Ill try draw more when my flame goes up! cheers
