Talking Kristoff learnes to draw! ^_^

    Hey everybody! ^_^
My name is Katherina, i'm Russian, my age is 18, and i've discovered that drawing is my life =)
I was walking through this site, saw many interesting and talanted people, started to study from them...notised a lot mistakes...and desided to open my own sketchbook...to improve with your advices and critics.
I hope to put works daily...it's hard because i work, go to institute, well who doesn't? =)
Any ways, here are a few resent sketches, some old works you can see here: http://ka-g-o.deviantart.com/

    Hey and welcome.
A great start indeed. I like your studies, especially the ears and noses. And the second digital piece looks pretty good too. I don't have any critic this early, just keep it up and post a lot and you'll be fine.

And one thing, try to get your hands on Anatomy for artists by David Rubins and Bridgman's Constructive Anatomy if you don't have them. Really good books.

Please, tell me, is it normal that my grayscale works are better than colored ones? And will the color be better though time? What should I pay attention to right now?
And HOW CAN I FEEL COLOR?!
I'll really appreciate your answers! It's so important to me...-___-

You have some really good looking studies here.
It is not at all unusual for one's grayscale work to be better than stuff in color. In grayscale, you only have to worry about the relative values of light and dark. It is simple, and that is why artists have traditionally started out using just charcoal or single color chalk until they have mastered the basic chiaroscuro techniques.
When you introduce color, the difficulties increase exponentially. All of a sudden you have to worry about choosing the correct hue, how colors blend, warm and cool contrasts, local color variations which have identical values, and the list goes on and on...
These things take time to learn so don't get discouraged. Spend alot of time painting from life and really focus on color matching. If you are working digitally, copy photos and try to pick the correct color by yourself, then check your guess against the color picker tool. That might give you some insight. Most of all, just keep painting!
As the ego shrinks, so the spirit expands.

Great studies, I need to do that too!
I also really like the environment sketch, the left is feeling a bit heavy though. Maybe you should put something on the right to balance it.

    Keep it up!

Well, you're definitely off to a great start! Practice seems to be the main thing. You have stuff from life, from imagination, greyscale, colour, anatomy, thumbs... definitely on the right track!

    Keep it up!

Really nice! The linework looks quite fluid. How long were the poses (the maniacs ones anyways)? The one thing I'd watch are the proportions: you've got some small heads, long waists and long legs going on. I agree with Blacky- you've got very good balance.

I was so busy lately, i'm in the university of language right now , i'll be an interpreter so it's really hard to do art studies and to translate =|, but i'm trying.
So there was a busy week but i've done something =3

BlackDelphin, Thank you for the support =3 my references are: my friends, Bammes, Loomis, and posemaniacs.com, that's all so far ^_^

Pixie Trick, the poses areoften 2-3 minutes, i can go faster but this will be no studies, just the form catch. Well, about the proportions, I try to make proportions as on the reference... those that are from my friends are the proportions they have. (above is my friend)
